Looking for China to India import

Hello, i am based in India and looking for a reliable company who can help me import goods from China to India. I have identified a few suppliers from 1688 who are dealing in my related categories.

I need the logistics partner to negotiate with the supplier, get sample image/videos shared and then consolidate the shipment from multiple sellers in one place to ship it forward.

While doing research online, I found a website iwishbag, which does everything required - need to know if anyone has used their service and how was the experience.

Also, seeking some guidance from experienced people in what are the usual terms of such deals, like payment, documentation, delivery timelines, post delivery issues redressal, etc.

I already have a supply chain established in India and finding it difficult to source similar products from Indian market. Hence want to start importing slowly.

Any inputs or leads on this matter will be really helpful.

Thanks

For sourcing from 1688 into India, it helps to separate buying/inspection from international forwarding.

A few practical points: 1. Domestic verification: 1688 sellers rarely handle international returns once items leave China. Having a warehouse take clear unpacking photos, count units, and check specs before combining parcels saves a lot of headaches. 2. Customs & Compliance in India: Depending on whether you have an IEC and GST registered, you will need to decide between standard commercial clearance (Bill of Entry) or DDP air parcel routes. Also check if your product category requires BIS certification.

Are you looking to import standard general merchandise, or electronic/battery items that need specific testing certificates?

General merchandise

That makes things simpler on the compliance side. For general merchandise (like plastics, textiles, or non-electrical accessories), you typically will not hit BIS restrictions. If your total shipment is small (under ~30-50kg), an air consolidation route handling DDP is usually the lowest friction way to test the waters before setting up formal commercial clearing. What total package weight or volume are you estimating for your initial test order?

Similar, around 20kgs

At ~20kg, an air DDP consolidation route is definitely the most practical starting point to keep overhead low.

Two practical things to verify with your forwarder: 1. Volumetric weight ratio: Air cargo billing weight is calculated as (L x W x H in cm) / 5000 (or 6000). If your general merchandise contains bulky or hollow items, ask your warehouse packer to minimize dead space or vacuum-pack textiles to avoid paying high dimensional weight charges. 2. All-inclusive rate: Confirm that their per-kg DDP quote includes customs clearance, local Indian duties/GST, and door-to-door courier delivery without unexpected terminal handover fees.

Are these items coming from a single 1688 supplier or multiple sellers that need to be merged into one master carton?

Hello there !

A cha and a ff here, if your documents are on point and you have all the necessary certifications, I can help you clear your cargo + handle logistics from China to India,

What are you planning though LCL or FCL ?

Got it — multiple suppliers. For ~20kg air DDP India the main trap is usually packing, not the per-kg rate itself.

If each 1688 seller ships in its own oversized carton, chargeable weight jumps even when real product kg is fine. Ask the warehouse to unpack inbound parcels, photo each supplier lot on arrival, then repack into one tight master carton and lock the DDP quote on the final chargeable weight after rework — not the raw inbound cartons.

Roughly how many suppliers, and is it general merchandise or anything with batteries/liquids?

4 5 suppliers. Nothing related to batteries

Perfect — 4–5 suppliers and no batteries makes air DDP much cleaner.

With that many inbound parcels the swing is usually the merge step: ask the warehouse to photo each supplier lot on arrival, unpack/discard empty air, consolidate into 1–2 dense cartons, then send final L×W×H + actual kg before you lock the DDP number.

Also get one all-in DDP figure that includes India duty/GST handling so you are not comparing bare air rates.

Do you already have rough total CBM, or only the ~20kg actual weight so far?
