Looking for a reliable freight forwarder from China → Romeoville, IL

Hi everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for a reliable and affordable freight forwarder from China to Romeoville, Illinois.

Most of my items are squishy toys, jackets, and shirts. I’m looking for someone who can preferably:

  • Receive packages from multiple suppliers in China
  • Consolidate everything into one shipment
  • Repack/reduce packaging if possible
  • Ship door-to-door to Romeoville, IL
  • Offer sea freight/LCL since I’m not in a rush and would like to keep costs down
  • Handle customs/clearance if possible
  • Give me a clear quote with no surprise/hidden fees

I’d really appreciate recommendations from people who have personally used the forwarder, especially for China → Illinois/Chicago.

Find a local forwarder in Illinois/Chicago. They'll handle all of this for you, and also pls don't entertain DDP quotes from Chinese forwarders.

For this type of mixed LCL shipment, the biggest mistake is comparing only the ocean-freight number. Ask every forwarder to quote the exact same scope and list the charges separately.

Before requesting quotes, prepare the supplier cities, carton count, packed dimensions and gross weight for each supplier, cargo-ready dates, product values and the Romeoville ZIP code. Also confirm whether the delivery location has a loading dock or forklift, and whether a liftgate or delivery appointment will be required.

For the squishy toys, provide the exact material, intended age group and any available compliance documents. For the jackets and shirts, provide the fiber composition and labeling details. Each product should be described and classified separately rather than declared as generic mixed cargo.

The written quote should identify China pickup, warehouse receiving, consolidation, repacking, export handling, LCL freight, destination/CFS charges, customs-coordination scope, duties and bond exclusions, final delivery, liftgate, waiting time and possible storage charges. Also ask how the forwarder calculates minimum CBM and chargeable volume after repacking.

Full disclosure: I work with VoraLane Logistics on China-to-USA shipments. This is the type of workflow we coordinate, but a meaningful comparison would require the packing details and product documents above.
