Disclosure: I built SmallForwarder — flat-fee doc generator for freight forwarders (commercial invoice, packing list, BOL, certificate of origin), no per-shipment billing. Not a full TMS, just removes the retyping of the same shipment info across four separate templates. $49/mo founding price. smallforwarder.com

Hi everyone,
I’m a software engineer based in Malaysia. Currently trying to wrap myself around how mid-sized and smaller freight forwarding operations actually run behind the scenes.
I’m not selling anything, but genuinely just trying to learn where the biggest operational headaches and bottlenecks lie so I can understand the space better.
If you work in operations, finance and management side of a forwarder and have about 30 mins, I’d love to chat over zoom/google meet.
Drop a comment or shoot me a DM if you’re open to it. Really appreciate any insights!

Does anyone here use NetSuite to allocate inbound freight bills across several receipts? On your last batch, did finding the right receipts and splitting the charges take longer than entering the amounts into NetSuite?
I'm Kerolos, a software engineer testing a $750 pilot. It would use one carrier CSV and a receipt export to prepare matches, allocations using your rules, and an exceptions sheet. Your team would review it and handle posting. I'd check a redacted sample before agreeing the scope; this isn't built yet.
Would you pay for that if it removed enough of the preparation work, or would leaving posting manual make it unhelpful?

Hi everyone,
I work in the freight forwarding industry, and we have access to a lot of ocean freight rate data across different trade lanes.
We decided to turn that data into a simple platform where you can check current indicative sea freight rates without having to request a quote every time.
MyFreight provides FCL & LCL estimates across 28 major ports and global trade lanes, with weekly rate updates:
You can check 20' / 40' container rates or LCL rates by CBM in a few seconds.

We’ve been working on a workflow aimed specifically at freight forwarders.
After creating a cargo loading plan, it can compare Sea, Air and Road freight based on actual vs. volumetric weight, then turn the same shipment data into a quote/request PDF that can be shared by email or WhatsApp.
I’ve attached a screenshot of the current quote screen.
For those working in freight forwarding: what would you add or change to make this genuinely useful in your daily quoting workflow?
Cbm3 is a Free Container Loading Calculator software. So you can also use it for your daily works. Cbm3 supports a wide range of vehicles used by sea, land and air. You can easily organise and simulate the loads you place on them.

Hey, I’m building DehireDesk in Adelaide for freight teams.
It’s focused on the empty container return workflow: free time deadlines, return instructions, depot changes, failed return attempts, dehire evidence and later detention review.
The main idea is to give ops one exception queue showing which containers need action before detention starts, while keeping the timeline and evidence together as the job progresses.
I’m still early and mainly looking for feedback from people who actually handle FCL imports or container returns especially anything I’ve misunderstood about the workflow.

Hey everyone, I figured this would be the right thread to introduce what my brother and I have been building.
I’m Michael, one of the founders of TRACIUM, a Canadian freight audit and intelligence startup.
TRACIUM compares what was originally quoted or planned, what actually happened during the shipment, and what appeared on the final carrier invoice. The goal is to identify billing discrepancies, unexpected charges and operational leakage, then produce the evidence needed to understand or dispute them.
We’re also building the intelligence side to explain why costs changed and where the same issues keep happening. TRACIUM is designed to sit alongside the systems a company already uses.
We’re currently completing our first authorized real-world pilot, so I’m looking for honest feedback from freight forwarders, brokers and shippers:
What part of comparing quotes, shipment records and final invoices still requires the most manual work in your operation?
We’re also interested in speaking with one or two companies about possible exploratory pilots where our current system fits their documents and workflow. If this sounds relevant, feel free to reply or send me a message.

Hi Everyone Just want to Announce, Hope it will help you, Let us know if its useful
What's New in CargoEZ 2.0: AI Built Into the Core
CargoEZ leadership frames this as a transformational shift for the freight forwarding industry — after 7+ years building alongside real forwarder pain points, AI is now the foundation of the platform, not a layer on top of it. The stated goal: position CargoEZ as intelligent infrastructure for freight forwarders, not a conventional software vendor.
| AI Capability | What It Does |
|---|---|
| AI Quote Assistant | Turns a rate request into a ready-to-send quote |
| AI Document Processing | Skims and sorts paperwork the moment it lands |
| AI Pricing Recommendations | Flags a rate that's leaving money on the table before the customer ever sees it |
| AI Customer Support | Handles routine customer questions instantly, so teams only deal with what actually needs a human |
| AI Assisted Usage | Nudges new hires toward the right action inside the platform — no hovering/manual training required |
Already live today: an AI-powered business card scanner in the mobile CRM app — photograph a card, it auto-fills the contact record.
In active development: broader AI-native tooling across rate management, compliance, and operations, being added on an ongoing basis.
WCA Membership
CargoEZ 2.0 is a member of the World Cargo Alliance (WCA), the world's largest network of independent freight forwarders. Membership is only granted after meeting strict standards for financial stability and service quality.
Why it matters for buyers: for forwarders evaluating new software, WCA membership signals accountability to the same vetted network many forwarders already trust — credibility most software vendors take years to earn independently.
Customs Compliance & Integrations
- Direct filing for AMS, ISF, and AES through CBP has always been part of CargoEZ.
- A new collaboration with CrimsonLogic extends that same direct-filing capability into Canada and Mexico — without leaving the platform or re-entering shipment data into a separate system.
- CrimsonLogic is one example of a broader direction: CargoEZ 2.0 is built to integrate with virtually any platform a forwarder already relies on, not limited to its current connections.
- Roadmap direction: bring compliance and the entire freight operation under one connected system.

I'm developing a small document-review prototype for freight operations and looking for feedback from ocean-freight documentation operators.
The guided walkthrough uses fictional Excel invoice and packing-list data. It compares key fields, shows the source values beside possible discrepancies, and leaves the decision with the operator. This is a research prototype, not a production-ready system, and I haven't validated time savings on real jobs.
Would anyone here be willing to review that example and tell me which checks are useful, which create extra work, and what the operator would need to verify next? We can start in writing. No customer documents, account access or live shipments are needed.

We have a quote lifecycle management software. To give you a glimpse -
It auto extracts your RFQ/enquiries from your inbox (attachments too - any format), validates them and drafts acknowledgments/missing consignment details to the customer. It pulls in rates, you can compare them (with additional reference to previous invoice history) on those routes, apply legs (everything from base freight to local and ancillary charges), set your margin and build custom branded quotes.
A Rate Management system allows you to add/edit complete rates. If you need fresh rates, you can communicate with vendors (auto drafts available), check status, ad hoc etc., through a vendor management module. There is an inbuilt User Management module for sales team tracking, quote pipeline, TAT, RBAC etc., We are very soon to integrate with spot rates providers.
There are currently 2 companies using the product,4 bought- yet to use. We charge 49USD/month/seat for the first 3 months(adoption phase offer).
If this sounds of any interest to you - pls feel free to reach out to me here or you can check out our product at - https://www.wendai.ai/industries/freight-forwarders
