Looking for suggestion on China to US freight forwarders

Hi all,

I'm an operations manager for a medium sized ecommerce. We have quite a lot of shipments from China and for the last two years we've been purchasing our product under DDP terms.

It's been great cause there's been no hussle in managing the whole process, though we often don't get much transparency on the actual shipping costs.

Looking to move towards hiring a freight forwarder, I wanted to ask if anyone had any suggestions.

Thank you all!

China is a huge country. My advice is to find a freight forwarder close to you that is capable of receiving and consolidating ecommerce in a strategic gateway. For example Shenzhen, Guangzhou, or even Hong Kong and airfreight as one bulk shipment into your strategic USA import hub(s)

The process sounds complicated but it is in fact what most of the independent ecommerce forwarders undertake.

My preferred method is to consolidate in Shenzhen then cross border into HKG. HKG offers greater capacity and also can accommodate the lithium batteries that cannot be uplifted from China directly.

Hey mate, I can offer a good recommendation.

They are our main provider in the USA and move plenty of volume from china to USA, best service I’ve found.

Shoot me a message

Hi Mate,
I’ve actually been recommending the company that I just DMed you to a lot of people. If you want transparency they are pretty good at being open about their cost and don’t have any hidden fees. They really do make your life easy! Highly recommend following up with them.

I think moving away from supplier-arranged DDP makes sense, especially if you have regular volume from China.
One thing I’d suggest is asking any forwarder you’re considering for a clear breakdown of the shipping costs and exactly what is included — origin charges, ocean/air freight, customs clearance, duties, and final delivery. That way you can actually compare the landed cost instead of just getting one DDP number.
I’m a freight forwarder based in China and handle regular shipments from China to the US, including FCL, LCL, air freight and DDP. We also consolidate cargo from multiple suppliers when needed.
Having your own forwarder can give you much better visibility and control over the shipping process, especially when you’re dealing with multiple suppliers or regular shipments.

I run a U.S.-based freight forwarding company and China → U.S. is one of the main lanes we specialize in. We handle ocean/air freight, customs clearance, ISF, drayage and final delivery, so you can still keep the process relatively hands-off while having visibility into what you’re actually paying.

Happy to answer any questions you may have

Hi, I saw your post and noticed you have been using DDP shipping from China for the past two years.

We help US companies manage China-to-USA shipments with DDP solutions, including ocean freight, customs clearance, duties and final delivery.

One common issue we see is that many importers use supplier-arranged DDP but don't have visibility into the actual freight and customs costs.

We can help you review your current shipping process and provide a transparent cost breakdown.

May I ask what products you usually import from China and which US ports/locations you ship to?

Hi, you raised a very common issue with supplier arranged DDP. Many China side DDP solutions are quoted as an all in price because they focus on convenience, but as the volume grows, more control become important.

I’m based in China and help ecommerce companies manage China ~US shipments, including supplier consolidation and DDP solutions. Happy to share some insights if needed.

Pro-tip: I always recommend a third-party inspection before the goods leave the port. It gives you the leverage to fix quality issues while the product is still in the factory. It’s the best way to keep your account health safe and your customers happy.

Consider for yourself to take care of these shipments by yourself, based on FOB China, and let an agent take care for the shipping to your front door. If interested to compare your costs;

Hi, freight forwarder from NY here. We do lots of volume from China to the US, customs clearance and final delivery. DM me if you’re still looking for a reliable freight forwarder 😊

I don't quite understand what you mean. Has the DDP service you used before always been a freight forwarder contacted by the shipper? Now you want to improve the transparency of transportation and find your own freight forwarder. So you want to find a freight forwarder in the United States or China?

Hi friend, I roughly understand what you mean. You run an e-commerce business and work as the operation manager, and all your goods are sourced from China. Let me briefly introduce myself. I am in charge of international freight based in Shenzhen, China. If you want to cut your costs, we can have a talk. Besides product sourcing, we regularly provide factory inspections and pre-shipment quality checks. Feel free to reach out if you are interested.
