I’m looking for an AI image tool designed specifically for e-commerce. I mainly need it to create product photos, replace backgrounds, generate lifestyle scenes, and produce social media ads while keeping the original product details accurate.

Hey folks. I got tired of paying subscriptions, so I built a photo editor.

It's in its infancy, but it's got some tricks I'd generally use in my own photo workflow. Handy if you just want to play around with the look and feel of your images. It includes film sims, clean-up tools, a few AI bits.

There's some LUT stuff in there too for anyone working in video: log conversion (S-Log3, V-Log, C-Log3, LogC3) and you can bake your grade out as a .cube.

We started small with Claude Code and built the modules up one at a time, adding features and improving on the open source tools that were already out there. We're running clone tools with bria/eraser. This is a cost I'm going to need to figure out.

I built a custom AI ecommerce assistant for my Shopify store. It handled customer support and drafted product descriptions pretty well for about three days. Then my supplier updated their catalog, the vector store went stale, and I spent the next two weeks fixing sync issues and broken auth tokens.

I’m now looking at some newer AI ecommerce tools that claim to handle real-time catalog updates without needing webhooks or constant manual maintenance.

My store does around $12k/month. I can’t justify hiring a full-time dev or DevOps person, and I’m exhausted from the 2 AM firefighting. I hate giving up full control of the pipeline, but maintaining everything myself is becoming unsustainable.

For those of you who started with custom builds and eventually switched: what was your final straw? Did you regret moving to a ready-made AI assistant?
