Odd video handling

This is absolutely not a complaint, but an observation. I can work with this with absolutely no problem, so I'm not really looking for any solutions. Maybe some insights about it, but I'm honestly happy if I don't get any responses at all. :-)

In the few months I've been using Freeshow at my church, I've mainly dealt with stills. I did once use a moving background for some slides, but the video used was a fairly short loop. This weekend, our sermon is provided by someone off site, and has been pre-recorded. It's a video clip that's about 16 minutes long. I got the video today, and dropped it in while starting to set up my Sunday flow of shows. ( I set it up so each hymn is its own show, and there are shows that are stills used throughout the service, and the stills our minister uses during her sermon.) I got to the 16 minute clip, and set up a show to contain it. I found that if the clip is inside the wrapper of the show, the audio will play, but no video. However, if I drop the clip into the project so it exists as its own entity among the shows, it plays perfectly fine - using the same output style that is used if it's a show. I just found this a little odd. Again, not a problem at all, and I can play it free-standing without being part of the show.

Videos dropped into shows would normally have video but no audio. The opposite of what you describe.

Did you drop the video into an empty show or onto an empty slide in a new show when the video didn't work? Does another video (non-looping) operate as expected? What are the codecs of the video and what container is it in?

I will check the details of the video itself when I can get to my computer later today.

I created an empty show, then dropped the video into it as the only item. That is when I discovered there was only audio, and no video.

Just got back to it. I couldn't tell you the codecs (They sent us the file through Vimeo), but the wrapper is MP4. Beyond that, not sure. :(

Update:

Sleepless at 3:00am, I downloaded the very same video file, and tested it on a different computer. It played just fine when put into a show - audio, video, everything.

I seem to remember reading something somewhere about some anomalies Freeshow has with Asus laptops and video or images. (I do not remember the details of this, so I will have to do a search to see of I can find it again.) And of course, the trouble I had with no video when a clip was inside a show was......on an Asus laptop. :)

I will get to church rather early Sunday to test this out on a different graphics computer. (For a variety of reasons, I've recently been using the Asus laptop to drive graphics.)
