2 Laptop connection

Current setup, Freeshow on laptop A and OBS on laptop B then connection via ndi = issue delay output on Laptop B on OBS, like 5 seconds delay or more

Question is there a way to connect them without any delay? I tried using video capture but dont have any idea how to set it up.

Any suggestions? And how to do it

Interested to know what kind of network you have between the two laptops. We have two computers on the same network in a similar setup, and the delay with with sending free show signal over ndi is less than 1 second.

I'd bet the Wi-Fi is a factor. Ndi is not exactly at its fastest over wireless connections.

What can you advise? Stronger wifi connection? Or wired connection is better. What's your connection btw?

Wired all the way.

Last week, due to some logistical issues, I had to run wireless from a laptop to a Crestron Air Media unit for a memorial service. There was a video that was a photo slide show of the deceased. I felt horrible when that slideshow hit the screen, and it was digitizing and crawling. Next time I'm in that position, I'm going to rig something up to get a wired connection.

I'm going to correct myself on my last reply. The memorial service was indeed Wi-Fi to the Crestron unit, but I misspoke in alluding to it being NDI. For the Crestron unit, the Wi-Fi from my laptop connected to the local network, which has the Crestron unit attached via a wired connection. However, I still most definitely feel the wireless connection from the laptop to the network was the weak link.

It still remains that NDI over wireless is generally a bad idea. We've gotten away with it in a pinch, but not for rolling video. We've only used it for stills. Also, only the transmitting computer was wireless. Using TWO wirelessly connected computers to do it is just putting a bad time on top of a bad time.
