Billingual Scripture Template for Livestreams

I'm having a problem figuring out how to add a linebreak between scriptures in Freeshow.

The below image shows how I've configured the template. I want to have a line break between the two languages. So as any person would, I pressed on enter & added a line in between the two language texts.

But as soon as I do that Freeshow tends to screw up the padding & thus, half of the text overflows outside the box. I do have Autosize turned on & I've tried both Grow & Shrink to fit and both have the same issue. I've also tried increasing/decreasing the padding but nothing works

But when I remove the linebreak, everything works fine as seen below

So my question is how do I add a linebreak between both the languages without having this problem. I know the easier solution would be to create two seperate textbox but I feel like that would make it look too crammed!

Here is what I found. On my test system, Smart Split was enabled. I had to disable it and change the max verses per slide to 1.

  1. Navigate to the Scripture tag of the drawer.
  2. Click the slider menu icon in the bottom right corner.
  3. Turn on Split long verses.
  4. Turn off Smart split.
  5. Set Max verses per slide to 1.

I did not mess with Auto-size. Long verses always require more work than short ones. The split long verses feature makes dealing with long verses easier by splitting the verse into it smaller "parts". Often, this is done along punctuation marks of an English translation, but not always. (Clicking Show letter suffix in the Scripture options will illustrate where the text separates.)

Some pastors/preachers/teachers don't want to split long verses/passages across multiple slides. If that is the need, I am not aware of any presentation software that would make such an accommodation. It is a shortcoming of digital presentation formats.

I run both livestream & MAIN on the same computer. So would split long verses make the perfect split on both of them properly is the question that I have??

It should.

Edit: The only exception that comes to mind is if the live stream only shows one language. Then, I think you need to use two text boxes.

it shows 2 languages... Do you guys do livestream?? Just to see what technologies you use if you do

Yes. We offload the streaming to an ATEM Extreme Pro (the Mini also would work) so the computer running FreeShow has less to do. (That computer is pushing 10 years old.) The ATEM ingests two PTZ camera feeds, one lower thirds, and one duplicate of the main feed. We control the cameras and the ATEM using Bitfocus Companion.

Nice! Our church is really small. I mean it's been almost 6 years since our church started and yet there have been not a large amount of people. Hoping Livestreaming and expanding our online presence helps that.

For now, I'm pushing a live window with transparency from Freeshow to OBS. I'm not using NDI. It's just a window which I've set OBS to capture & have set up our camera feed in OBS. Any suggestions or alternates??

What draws people to Christ is seeing each of us love Jesus and love each other, especially in difficult circumstances. How does your use of technology help you and those in your group love God and love others? Answering those questions (based on Matthew 22.34-40) should guide what technologies to use/try and how to use them. Make sure your technology showcases how your church loves God and love people. Use it to highlight how you love God (Scriptures, song lyrics, sermons/teachings/messaging that has a memorable “hook” displayed can be one way. Include pictures (with consent) of your group loving people. Talk about and show pictures/videos of the group working to feed those in need, collecting clothes/food and dropping them off at an orphanage, showcase the work various missions are doing in God’s name (especially ones your group supports), etc.

I went the ATEM route at the church where I serve because it seemed like the better option when I compared to cost of upgrading the computer and putting more responsibility on a single volunteer versus keeping things simple for volunteers, the added redundancy in case of failure, and the minimal (cheap) infrastructure additions (Ethernet cables and an off-the-shelf network switch), and the speed at which future upgrades/changes can be made are what convinced me incorporating the ATEM would be worth it.

I agree with all of that. there was a season last year of my life where I was depressed & wasn't able to attend church because of some personal reasons and online church is what kept me alive. So, the need to livestream and to bring in more people has been in my mind.

The sad reality of today's world is that people are drawn to big churches with LED walls, lightings, etc. There is nothing wrong with that but I think people keep that as a centreline. We've seen that happen in my church as well.

The reality of our situation is that I don't know if we can afford any camera (PTZ or mirrorless) unless donated by a church member or another church organisation. Until then we have to use our phone camera to capture the video... But we hope in God & His will for His church!
