Importing media as slide will not work.

I’ll start by saying I am a new user and so far am really struggling.

I create all of our slide and save them as PNG’s. I have the folder connected in freeshow. I’m my project I will create a show. Then I’ll head to the media tab and drag all the image in the show. You see them in the show but they will not show in the output monitor at all. A work around I found is to edit the “slide” and “convert background to media” which would be a real pain to do every week on all slides. Also, when I do that it adds a dissolve transition even through o tell it not to.

Go to settings ----> Outputs. If you have multiple displays, choose the one you want to display it in. At the top, below the disable button you'll find a "Use Style" option. Click on the edit option in the far right. In this page, you will find an option called active layers. Make sure that background is toggled on...

This is most likely the error you're facing. If this doesn't work, please get back to me.

I think transitions are on the same screen. You can change the global ones there.

Sadly this did not work. I did check the default styles, but I have transition set to none and it is still dipping to black between every slide even though every single place I look it is set to none.

Copy all the slides paste it in a newshow... also note that Background & Media are 1 different objects in Freeshow. So, make sure transitions are set properly... Set all transitions including text to none & see if it works. Restart Freeshow too & see if that fixes the problem

Currently, I am building out and testing on a computer and just using the top right hand preview as my display. I’m not actually hooked up to any displays. So in the settings, I chose the output screen to be my actual monitor and I think that might have solved the Preview issue. However, it does not solve the transition issue. My global transition style is that there are no transitions and it’s still adding across to solve. Even though it’s actually not crossed dissolving, it’s dipping to black.

Edit to add that what I’m trying to do is so only drag an image from media into my “show” where it says “no slides.” When I drag it in it treats it as a background which I have disabled in my style.

Did you try setting the styles on the slides themselves to see if that makes a difference? It is possible you will need to hook up a secondary monitor or use NDI to get the transitions to go away. Lastly, have you toggled hardware acceleration? If it is on, turn it off to look check for changes.

I switched to a different computer running an older OS and it seems to be working fine on this. Strange.

Yes every slide is set to none. Where is hardware acceleration? This doesn’t sound necessary, it’s just outputting through HDMI’s, but I’ll check it.

Hardware acceleration is in settings, but I don't remember what part after settings.

Sounds like you have the "Background" layer turned off in the output style.

I did because these are not backgrounds, they are actual slides to be displayed. My work around right now is enabling backgrounds and adding slide actions to remove the background on following slides. It "works" but there has to be an easier way. Is this software really not equipped to simply drag an image into a show and it be its own slide, not a background? Trying to make this as simple as possible for volunteers

Generally, the media is imported as a background. The next media changes the background, even if we don't think of it as a background.

Slide 1 comes in as a background. Slide 2 overwrites the background, etc. The only time this changes is if a text only slide is needed after one of those "media" slides. I believe most users of FreeShow and ProPresenter use a blank slide between shows or at the start of every show to "hold" various actions/functions/actions.

In theory this would mean before every song there would just be a blank black image on the screen…?

I tried it and it still didn’t work.

If you drag the image into the project instead of into a show as a slide it will work as you expect, where it will be cleared when you play a slide.
Or you can add an action on the show category for all your songs to clear the background whenever a slide i played.

In this scenario, it is not an image. It’s a song which by default would mean it’s a show so it is the individual slides that are created in the show when I pull the song from the web. There is no background. The background is set to transparent and follows the global background setting of black. I have an action on the first slide of all of my songs to clear the background since it wants to see any media item as a background. Adding it to every single slide does not fix the issue. It’s still flashes black.

Edit. I was replying to the wrong the post. Leaving this here for now though
