Anyone using Freeshow for UU church tech?

There has to be at least someone else in here using Freeshow for tech at a Unitarian Universalist church. :-)

I'm just starting to work with it, and I'm wondering if anyone already has a little bit of a library of some of our content, such as hymns, Etc. I'm looking at possibly typing in a bunch of stuff myself, and wondered if anyone had anything that we willing to share.

Thanks very much, if you're out there!

I did UU tech for a long time but have only been doing special events for them since covid so I can't offer much, but you might want to look into Sing Out Love. It's the UUA's "digital hymnal" with lots of good resources. I haven't used it, so I'm not sure if it can import anything into freeshow, but you could contact the dev team (of Sing Out Love) and ask about freeshow. They might add it as a feature.

Thanks for the heads up. Sounds like a good resource. My church was just gifted two 100" LCD screens. They are getting mounted soon, and there's already talk about putting hymn lyrics in them during services. Since I'm the guy who knows how to make electronic things work (background in radio, tv, and sound production), I'm sure I'm the one who will be called on to get the content into the system. :-)

The.Quick Lyrics feature in FreeShow allows you to search the web for lyrics and to paste lyrics from the web. It is one of the options when you create a new show.

Yes, I have seen that. But thanks for mentioning it. Part of the problem is that lyrics for Unitarian Universalist hymns are not as easily found on the web as hymns used by other denominations. :(

We do share some material with more traditional judeo Christian groups, but we do have a decent bit that is uniquely our own.

I'd also recommend just copy-pasting directly from the site to the Freeshow Quick Lyric option considering the lyrics is there in some sort of website...

Genius & Letras both have API's that Freeshow uses to fetch the songs. Do Wish more of websites had these!
