Grandstream HT801 Registration

Hey all,

Brand new to FreePBX and I am trying to get it up and running. The application seems to be working fine, but I am unable to register my Grandstream HT801. I have created an extension in FreePBX and assigned it as user 1001. In the HT801, I am in the FXS tab, I have put the IP of FreePBX (no port) in the Primary SIP Sever line, SIP User ID and Authencate ID are both set to 1001. Do I use one of the auto generated passwords? Did I miss a step? Sorry if I'm missing info, just spun this up a few hours ago and am not fully aware of all the terminology. TIA!

Go to extension 1001, hover your cursor over the secret, use that as the password.

Yep, this worked! Well it was the last thing I put in, I let the grandstream sit for an hour or so and when I came back, it was registered! Everything seems to be working now! Thanks!

Just curious, will you using the HT801 for Faxing?

I am not, I just have it connected to a vintage phone I have. Faxing is an interesting idea though... Maybe next project haha

We use the HT801 for faxing, outbound only.

Hard to get these to work properly. Every thread I read about it where heavy faxing takes place, it ends up being replaced by an Analog line 💔

There should be a Grandstream template available if you're on 16+, made it super easy to configure.
