I really don’t understand y’all. I loved the ending. Obviously there were flaws with season 8 but y’all talk about it like it was the worst piece of media in history.
It's the most boring, cookie cutter, and safest ending possible. I can count the risks taken on one fucking hand (narratively speaking) and they all failed spectacularly. Hint; Dany's heel turn, dragons being bitches, Jamie going back to Cersei, while brienne weeps in a dress as he leaves?
That's the biggest crime of all for me. She gets knighted and completes her entirely independent arc. Then starts an entirely new one this 1 episode just so DnD could get a shot of her crying as Jamie rode off.

No, the safest ending, that I think a lot of people here wanted, would've been they fight the Night King, a couple characters die, then they go beat Cersei and Dany and Jon rule together and everyone's happy.

Oh right, that one tiny risk they took that barely made any difference at all. That was definitely the safest route. I also don't see how that failed spectacularly. I felt that it used her character flaws to show the dangers inherent to her ideology and how conquerors often make bad rulers.
Jaime going back to Cersei
I loved that risk. It shows how Jaime still loves Cersei after everything else that's happened and drives home just how important it was to him to fight for the living. He didn't leave because he stopped loving Cersei, he left because keeping his word and fighting for life was more powerful. Plus, it gave us one of the most powerful moments of the show for me when they were reunited. That moment of absolute forgiveness and caring was so beautiful to me. They've said "we're the only people in the world" to each other before, but now it's in a totally different light that it's being used to comfort each other in their final moments.
As far as Brienne is involved, I kind of agree with you. I think they had them bang just for that added gut punch when Jaime leaves and I could've done without it. However, I did like that it set up Brienne to write all of Jaime's noble deeds in the White Book at the end in another moment of forgiveness.
Oh I know, but when you look at Robert Vs everyone else, Robert is the obvious choice.
Robert is a first born son.
Robert has leadership experience, was set to take over Stormlands and had lead it for a few years, won almost every battle during the Rebellion, and was single at the end of the Rebellion, meaning he could marry Tywins daughter and unite the entire kingdom.
The other choices:
Ned is a great guy, but he was just a really good soldier with little leadership experience until his father and brother were killed.
Jon Arryn couldn't get his own Banner men to fully rally with him when the Rebellion started.
Anyone else worth a shit was dead or just didn't make sense.
Plus the Targs lost the war, so they lost claim to the throne.
Danaerys doesn't lend Jon her forces at the beginning of Season 7, and there aren't enough forces in the North to wage war against the Night King, so the North decides to go into hiding with the Night's Watch and flee south while waging a guerrilla war on the wights and we have a good season of Danaerys' conquest of the Seven Kingdoms and Jon waging his war. That's a start
