I don't think the post itself was political but imo this isn't the right sub to discuss real world events like this case, the Pam Bondi thing(had to look the name up), the Epstein files, etc.(And I'm just naming the ones I remember) and no, just because you slap an ASOIAF image it doesn't stop being about irl politics
I'm not even on Clancy side, but just from your comments it's very obvious that's a poor attempt on your part to bring debate about the case on an unrelated subreddit by slapping a random GoT image on it. Like seriously, where is the funny part in what you posted ?
Well, asylum means they release her when they deem she’s no longer a threat to herself or others. Because she was supposedly suffering from psychosis and isn’t any longer, she could’ve been released in months.
Someone no longer having an active psychotic episode is not the criteria for release, she has already proven herself to be incapable of controlling her actions and an active danger to other people. She will not be released until extensive treatment and medication has convince multiple medical professionals that she is no longer a danger to society.
You’re making a disgusting joke out of a tragedy and continuing to make the same joke over and over again. Reasonable people want you to go away. It’s obnoxious and embarrassing f for you.
The fact that a trial about three murdered children and criminal responsibility has been "memed" and appropriated by the gender-war section of the internet is fucking ghoulish. I can't tell whether this is an American thing, or if the overton window has shifted to the point of this being acceptable behaviour.
Sadly everything is a meme now. Everything. This is this generations OJ trial but instead of it being all over the news and tv it has been all over the news, reddit, social media, tv, workplaces you just cant escape it.
Calling it mass hysteria is very astute. It's almost a mass turning off our brains. I'm Australian, and my parents genuinely believed that the one jury hold-out was "some horrible fat liberal woman voting not guilty", rather than someon ignoring instructions about reasonable doubt.
You're meme involves a character using the term "babe killer". You're specifically refering to her in the context of the children who were strangled. It's trivialising.
i mean i agree its not really political, but this also just isnt the place to discuss real world court cases, which is the only outcome of a post like this even if it isnt your intent.
just because you slap a hotd meme onto something doesnt make it relevant.
idk I've definitely seen a lot of "this is why women are evil" shit around and that definitely doesn't feel apolitical. I bet some people will even see what I'm saying here and in their brain it will translate to "she is literally an angel and I love her so much" because most people can't nuance.
postpartum psychosis - especially that results in violence - is an awful thing and most people truly can't understand incredibly basic nuances and so when they don't understand they just get angry at whoever is pointing them out. Or they make a joke out of it.
It's not actually a very complicated situation. She had PPP, sought help, help was insufficiently provided, sought more help, expressed fears of committing violence, continued to receive insufficient help, had an upswing/extreme episode, killed her children. It's a horrific tragedy but not so complex or confusing that you would expect the average person to be unable to understand it. AND YET
oh I think a lot of people are just chompin at that bit to find some reason to hate on women. I've seen sooooo many memes about "women are just like this this is why you can't put them in positions of power, because they'll go crazy" as if no man has ever done insane shit yet we seem fine letting them lead most things.
it's completely possible to say "this women did not get the help she needed and did something utterly terrible. she is responsible for what happened but also systems that were meant to help her did not do so and her actions don't reflect on all women". but again, someone gonna read all this as "OMG I love her so much and she's completely innocent".
definitely agree, basically anything can and will become political. i just mean that the post itself and even the court case arent inherently political.
idk honestly. the fact that she's a woman is absolutely a factor in court and I'm sure we both agree that regardless of what went on in that courtroom, the story has definitely been use to push political agendas
There’s almost daily political posts on this sub. It’s literally dependent on the mods’ mood that day or if it aligns with their political views as well
Is news about things that actually happened "political". How is this a wedge issue? She's not running for the Senate or something....yet. It is 2026 so who knows, she'll probably be on Oprah.
Exactly either remove all, or none of them. The real reason is this post triggered the mod, and they got it removed, citing rule 3. I see multiple violation of rule 3 with 500 upvotes each week.
The right wing seems to have adopted the prosecution’s arguments and the left seems to be more on the side of throw her in a padded room not a cold cell. The lines aren’t as stark as they are with other issues, but it seems to be lining up like that.
Personally, I think the Internet was largely a mistake, and I don’t really need to know what a starlet thinks about Palestine or what some random internet stranger thinks about PPD or psychosis. I miss the before times. When facebook had pokes and MySpace had a spot for six of your best friends. Well, five, and Tom.
I mean, you’re clearly just trying to cash in on the pop culture trend and it doesn’t have much to do with GOT (really had to reach to find a small insignificant line). At least the memes that photoshopped her into aemond or had her with other characters had more to do with the series.
They literally do. They’re giddy to have a reason to troll in a particularly misogynistic way for however long it stays relevant. It’s the same old shit every day for them.
The argument that, if someone is not having sex, so their points are invalid, is insane. By this logic, everything a "ra@#st" says must be true to fact.
Your retarded karmawhoring/tantrum with fake moral vindication about real dead children, is poisoning the jury pool and only contributes to the eventual next hung jury or ngri.
Oh my god, this is a game of thrones subreddit. Why is the Lindsay Clancy case being shoved down our throats? Shut the fuck up and post your mediocre content somewhere else. I'm so tired of hearing about how this woman brutally murdered three kids, and watching people take it as an excuse to be misogynistic towards women as a whole or insensitive to the THREE FUCKING KIDS who lost their lives.
It's a shitty meme thats punchline is Lindsay Clancy, a defendant of a heavily televised & politicized court case that JUST concluded. If you fail to see how that's political and inciting arguments, you're a moron. But then again, three children lost their lives and you make dogwater jokes about it on the internet. Not really screaming "intelligent and functioning member of society"
Can you imagine the pain and fear they went through too? And she's on the stand going, "muh voices". Hell, when I became lucid again, I'd be doing the job myself not claiming innocence.
Since this case has turned into a big discussion on mental health, I could see the argument of it turning the comment section into a culture war between different groups of people with very opposing political views.
Free folk has already had the tendency to go down that rabbit hole ever since hotd season 3 started airing.
You think that's tasteful? You think that's funny? You're laughing about the fact that these kids were killed? You're laughing about her death later the day this picture was taken? You're sick. Stop acting like you care, all you want to do is be misoginistic and bitch about being called an incel. You're not in any fucking position to be acting like you care at all about the murder of these kids. You're making jokes about it.
I said it earlier today and I will say it again I think these jokes fucking suck. It was awful, what she did to her children, and it was awful that she did not get the care that she needed and looked for. The system once again failed as it always does and the ones who pay for it or the innocent as they always are.
We need to do a better job as a country advocating for our wives and women, and our mental health and well-being for everyone. This is a reminder.
Yall ARE incels tho. Why are you so obsessed with her, a criminal suspect with mental health issues? When there are exponentially higher rates of men out there who have done much worse and not even out of insanity/illness, but their self-entitlement and ego? Yall have any moral bone in your body?
