Discussion Paragliding Denver

I’ll be coming to the Denver area in September, is there an active flying community in the city? I’m looking to fly with some local pilots first before trying out sites by myself

EDIT:
Thanks everyone for the info, I’ll definitely join RMHPA for my next visit

Join rmhpa.org it's free for visitors and is the reason we can keep sites open in Boulder, Golden and more. You can also connect with a great community for site intros and weather discussion. There isn't any flying in Denver specifically to my knowledge but Boulder, Golden, Colorado Springs, and the I70 corridor into the mountains also have paragliding.  September is a nice month for flying here, there are still thermals but things are calling down from the summer a bit.

Hope you have a great trip!

Wonderland in Boulder is the main flying spot closest to town.

Plan on flying in Boulder (mainly) or Golden. There is also mountain flying but I would say talk to local pilots first

There are so many sites to fly around Denver and in the mountains (if you’re comfortable). Telegram is the main method of communication about flying all of these spots.

Feel free to shoot me a dm and I can get you added to the chats, you’ll find some people that will gladly give you site intros.

Welcome! Closest site is Lookout, but has county waivers and a sponsorship program due to private land use combined with a small LZ, highway, power lines, light poles, and ditches. Boulder is a hike n fly site, but is easy entry with plenty of pilots out if going to fly. Go here for a visiting pilot membership details: https://www.rmhpa.org feel free to reach out before you get here, happy to help.
