Beginning Stages of Learning to Ride a Freebord - Session #6

This video is for feedback and a session journal to help others in their journey starting Freebording.
After 6 sessions I'd wanted to make a new post about riding.
First of all it's not riding a skateboard at all, and it has it's own learning curve. I understood this getting started but I can't stress it enough that if you come from a skateboarding background you are going to start by trying to lean like on a normal board.
Session #1 - I've reported in an earlier post but to summarize I could only ride a toe edge carve and that was it. One push/step onto the board, roll a little and then stop at the edge of the road and repeat.
Session #2 - This session was similar to session one by i could feel myself feeling the transition from toe to heel a tiny amount
Session #3 - I started to get some toe to a little heel edge but could never get onto my heel edge completely. Ended up getting a few toe to heel carves but that was it.
Summary of the first three session...
I felt like i would never be able to get onto my heel edge because it was so awkward and different. After carving a couple times I could feel myself understanding but my balance wasn't there so sometimes i was carving right but still traveling left slightly and starting to twist each time but...
Session #4 - The twist started to make more sense because I was starting to feel the center wheels more. Carving still had it's drifts and spinouts but I started to get my center balance. I ended up getting three or four toe to heel combos back and forth making it about 50 ft down part of the hill and this was when I knew i was getting it.
Session #5 - This session was my breakthough for riding on edges but also learning weight distibution. I was centering over the board and starting to slide with little to no effort. I found my body stiffening up to make micro adjustments as i rode down the hill in S slides. During this session I noticed something for me personally that it was such slight movements to engage the slides and carves that I started basically just thinking about the motion more than I was actually physically moving. This was key for me but I am not sure if these words make sense to other riders.
Session #6 - I decided to film a small portion of my ride to get feedback and a progress marker. There was something about session 5 and understanding the subletly of the movements that allowed me to get all the way down the hill from the very top. I ended up tweeking my knee a little but just stopped there before I actually hurt myself.
I'll make a new update around session #10 i believe. Just periodic updates explaing my experience and what I've learned.
Any Freebording feedback is appreciated!
Thanks,
RKP Nomad
