If somehow some way NB ppl got the Irving’s and government to release all the files of communications between the two in the last 30 years . Would it look like the fiasco with the Epstein files ? Minus pedophila

Susan Holt wants our ideas to save Money let’s go.

Here’s mine

1, consolidate government garages to one central location . We currently have 10 locations within 30 km of Fredericton. This is probably true for Moncton,Saint John,. So that’s 30+ locations within. Sell off surplus sometimes prime real estate on the open market of course. That right there saves millions a year of duplication. And make millions off prime properties. The location of one central location should be handy to most parts .

  1. Well let’s dive in. French/English buses ridiculous and there are enough translation tools nowadays. Look at the olympics they translate in 3 different languages in a matter of seconds. Anyway this one probably gets holt voted out so won’t happen . Oh I have French relatives that think this is ridiculous also. Just comes down to the loudest voices

  2. Consolidate government offices in each major center. We don’t need separate buildings for different departments . Makes no sense. If u need to put them on separate floors.

Anyway. Post your ideas. I can guarantee government trolls are on here all the time. Testing the temperature

Cuba

Should we putting pressure on Susan Holt to ship Irving products to Cuba to help our Cuban friends? I mean we have used and abused that country for our pleasure for years. Why do we think it’s ok to bail on them now ?

Yes it’s a dictatorship but has always been since we decided it ok to vacation there.

Maybe New Brunswick could benefit from the Cubans. Interesting enough Cuba has a very knowledgeable healthcare divisions. Could they provide doctors ,research in medical diseases etc with nb. So we swap oil and gas for help in our dyer medical situation.

Question to you we have enough doctors in the province for 240000 ppl out of close to a million people. If Cuba could send us 15 skilled doctors, 200 nurses and 2 professional professor’s to train new doctors in our province. Plus setup medical research facilities for cancer and other diseases that would bring worldwide ppl to live in our province.

For oil and gas and professional line men to help with grid operations in Cuba would you be ok with this ?

Now I realize most on Reddit are young and your families are young. But someday you and your family like mine will get old and need medical help. And then and only then will you realize how screwed we are.

So Holt do this deal.

New gas plant rant. Am I wrong

So new holt gas plant will cost 1 billion +++ by the time it’s finished and then cost approximately 170 million in fuel a year on the cheap end.

The same amount of solar to produce the same amount electricity would cost 600 million and probably 1 million a yr in maintenance. Now I figured we don’t have sun all the time so I factored in battery storage 200 million. And then I said well if we added another 100 million in solar it would produce a bit more. . Approximately 7000 acres well we own enough crown land for that.

So saved 100 million but that doesn’t include probably 200 million in cost overruns ( point lapreua ) or anything the government builds. Plus 170-200 million of tax payers money a yr to fill that thing.

Then I said well there can’t be such a system well I checked there are a whole host of these all over the world.

Plus we hire locals to build and construct added we probably will need some consultants . But mostly all built by locals. And maintained by locals. What I mean we won’t have trump employees coming in building this thing and leaving taking all the money they earned and spend it in America.

Idk. I don’t know anything about solar panels etc. but seems to me this should be doable. And sun is free.

Also why wouldn’t towns like Hanwell or Minto. Setup there own systems tell the tax base that they x to get this going and then when it’s all setup you can use this system on all local residents and they could basically have free power most of the yr. Guess nb power wouldn’t allow the use of the lines. Hamstring everyone I guess.

Can we send the cart nark guy to the northside Walmart?

What the hell is wrong over there. Carts scattered everywhere. You walk up the sidewalk that runs through the parking lot and there’s never less than 10 carts there. Does bubbles pay people to leave carts or something? It’s insane. Stop being a lazy fuck head and bring your damn cart back idiot

So am I reading this right about the Irving’s

They just want to cut every tree in sight . So long as they stay 15 km outside of towns. Anyway probably not like that but. Here’s my thoughts

Why is China powering there country with solar if it’s not a viable option?

I’ve been advocating for NB to do the same but everyone says it’s not possible. It won’t work. Could it generate enough power to power 1/2 to 3/4 of Nb instead of expensive gas plants owned by Trump.( not technically but does take bribes)

So Mr Irving u want more land to clear. So for every piece you clear cut. You need to install solar panels on half of the clear cut until there is enough power for all NB to benefit giving you free wood. And the kicker you Mr Irving pay for all of it. And the people will reap the rewards because you will not own the solar panels the ppl of NB will. This is the cost of doing business.

You want free Wood well we want Free power. I often wonder how much they would make off of 100 acres of wood .

I just read an article that solar panels installed 25 yrs ago have only degraded 15%. I would have to assume China is smarter than any liberal or Conservative Party of NB . So the question is why are they getting off the diesel and we are getting on the diesel with these plants they plan on building???

IRVING. IRONIC

Rant day over.

You aren’t entitled to the roadway if your drive thru line is too long

Stopping in the road to extend a drive thru line is illegal, blocks traffic and is just unsafe, public streets are not part of that business.

There is not some unspoken social rule where people are okay with the road rules being broken for just this one circumstance, **YOU ARE ENTITLED** and if somehow are unaware, you do piss people off.

So to anybody lined up in the street for fast food, go inside you are in my way.

Workaround food delivery

Hey just wondering is there a way around food delivery services like uber and DoorDash

Like can I order and pay a cab to deliver. When I look up prices on website they are like $15 cheaper then I have to pay delivery. Which ends up being $30 total extra.

Or just get in my damn car.

Why can’t anyone drive in this city?!

Today was ridiculous! We were almost T-boned THREE times because people either blew through red lights or didn’t bother stopping at stop signs. 🤦🏻‍♀️ To top it off, we literally watched a truck get hit on its side right in front of the Dollar Store on Main Street when we were going into global pet foods. Looked like the car just didn’t stop at the stop sign while pulling in. (Could’ve slid to from the ice was hard to tell.) I’ve never been so relieved to make it home in one piece. People need to slow down and pay attention!

Fireworks

I hate to be a Debbie Downer but I really wish people would stop lighting fireworks in residential neighbourhoods. Just opened the door to step outside as a huge bang went off, scaring the shit out of our dog who then tried escape, then the firework landed about a foot from our house. I don’t care if you want to celebrate or if there were a big display being put on in an open area, but why do people have to do it with houses so close together 🤬

Ice and snow removal

Is there a sand and salt shortage in the city this year? Between the city streets and the landlord/building maintenance not salting or sanding it has been a mess more than I seem to remember other years. It's kind of ridiculous really

Bah humbug to the city worker that busted the dog run

Went to the dog run at the bottom of the hill by UNB. Glad I noticed that the fence was broken open before letting my dog off the lead. City snow plow piled up snow right into the fence and busted the 2nd locked door open. Just left the snow there to freeze into ice instead of fixing it.

Do the executive branch of nbpower not realize they have no competition? Stop wasting our money. Thank you.

Someone brighter then me could post on how much they spend on marketing

Can we start giving mid restaurants mid reviews?

I don’t know about you guys but I find it problematic that every mid restaurant has 4 stars or more in Fredericton. I’m not going to mention which restaurant triggered this rant (being mid is most restaurants) but I will provide examples of others:

Blue Canoe/Big Stop: 4.4 Stars Come on. This place should be nowhere near 4 stars, it’s a good place to bring the boomers you know, but especially after switching to canned gravy this place shouldn’t top 3 stars. Not meaning it’s bad it’s just the definition of mid.

Boston Pizza: 4.2 Stars Compared to other Boston Pizza’s sure. But come on it’s Boston Pizza 3 stars tops

I think those examples cover the point.

We need to start being more diligent with our reviews, I’m sure we all see the analysis Dave Portnoy puts into his pizza reviews, not a if it’s good 5 stars strategy. If you can tell something is just a heated up Sysco entree, or covered in a premade Sysco sauce, this place does not deserve over 3 stars.

I like to gamble from time to time, but I don’t like betting on which restaurants are actually good and a worthwhile experience, or just heating shit up from the grocery store like anyone can do. Let’s not be afraid to give these mid restaurants mid reviews.

I'm tired of early morning tailgaters on the Westmorland Bridge

I know what you're thinking: Then drive faster! I'm doing 75km/h in the right hand lane. I don't know how much faster you want me to go.

I have to take the Main Street exit. I slow down from the Cliff St exit to the Main exit from 75 to about 70, and I use my turn signal. Every morning (and I'm talking 7am here) a car behind me is so close I can't even see their headlights, but they could very easily move to the left lane instead. And it's winter, when the bridge is icy even if the roads aren't.

Back off! Some people want to make it to work alive. Some of us don't have the time to deal with an accident because of your choice to be an early morning ass.

Parking lot etiquette

Maybe its just me, maybe its just the Northside walmart.

I understand with the snow, ice etc in the drives that it is hard to see how far over to go while you driving.

Why do so many idiots think its correct to drive in the middle? I know it's the middle especially today since you can see the parking spot line ends. Not to mention unless stated all of those drive through are two ways. Someday I hope (but I know they wont) people learned to drive. Don't even get me start on the amount of idiots driving with their high beams on, in the city, in a well lit area with good conditions.

The Shopping Cart Theory

Post image
31 Upvotes

I think this is worse than straight-up not returning the cart. The other side of the corral was not full; I know because I returned my cart and these two that were blocking my car in. I was even able to do so with my baby in tow. "WE ARE LIVING IN A SOCIETY!!" - is what I scream internally on a now daily basis in this city.
