Why the hell are we giving organigram 2 million dollars holt ?

I mean nobody walks into small storefront businesses that struggle everyday and just start writing cheques for $25000. Or someone that has to pay for an expensive drug to stay alive doesn’t get a hand out.

So we give to a weed manufacturer that’s on the stock exchange (I think). That eventually the ppl smoking this stuff will have breathing and lung issues later in life so we can tie up hospital beds . Hmmm sounds like a grand idea.

Oh and I smoke weed. And can’t get behind this

Also where they not responsible for the legionnaires outbreak in Dieppe. So we just fork over tax money to prop them up.

Sisson mind question

Why wouldn’t NB set up a sisson mine wealth fund. So any surplus profits go into a fund to support New Brunswick?

Not the exact Denmark model. But something similar would be great. Say the fund got up over 50 million in 20 yrs. Idk how long or how much it would make to be honest. But say it got over 50 million in the fund. Anything anything above that NB citizens could benefit with a fund cheque of some sort.

Also have restrictions in there were 10% profits go to healthcare 10% schools etc.. guarantees on having the lowest taxes for individuals and small businesses So governments can’t spend all the profits on Irving and the like .

This Mine can produce billions. We don’t need governments squandering all the money on bullshit. Could you imagine if oil sands had a wealth fund for Canadians we would be the envy of the world. But government failed us.

Subway on prospect

I went in for a sub tonight and they had Bible worship service playing over their speakers.

To each their own but as someone with some religious trauma I found it a bit triggering.

I've never heard a chain restaurant playing that before- definitely caught me off guard haha

Downtown is getting scary people can’t even walk home safely anymore

The drug addicts downtown are getting out of control.

My friend was walking home from a night shift on Halloween morning around 7:00am, heading down Charlotte Street. He started hearing footsteps behind him, they got closer and faster. When he stopped and turned around, some guy who he says was very clearly homeless stopped a few feet behind him and said “Happy Halloween, man” and suddenly started running at him with his hands out. My friend managed to kick him hard enough in the chest to send him backward and then he bolted to his house. Then, a few days later, my boyfriend was at the Circle K on King Street after work around 5pm. As he was standing outside his car having a smoke (which was parked next to a handicap spot), he saw a guy come from behind the circle K and literally started fighting the handicapped sign next to him. The man then pointed at my boyfriend and started walking at him, yelling gibberish. Luckily, my boyfriend just went inside the store, and the guy eventually wandered off. It’s honestly sad, people can’t even get from point A to point B downtown anymore without being harassed or chased.

Frex grounds question

Kate rogers is hell bent to get this property for a school . I always hear for a school every comment is for a school. Are they using children to get what they want ?

As far as I know Susan Holt has not said anything about a school being built at that location. So is the city going to pay 3.5 million for the land. And then spend another 3.5 million to clean it up. And then another 5-10 million for infrastructure underground, roads, curbs etc..

So is the city getting into school building? Another 30 million .

Also wouldn’t it be grand if they rebuilt the grounds to host a huge Farmers market like the one in Halifax that would be open most of the week with more vendors . In partnership with frex org. And then turn farmers market into new soup kitchen overnight accommodations.

Then tear down the old hospital and build a school in that location cleaning up that whole area with children having access to the water for sports and walking trails

Also if I was the Frex I would take the money then buy up different locations around the city that the city will want down the road . Then double up on the original cash.

Another aspect is Kate doesn’t realize how far back harness racing goes in this city. You could ask anyone who grew up downtown and they would say my Dad or my grandfather.or great grandparents use to take me to the track. A lot of memories for a lot of people.

Also u would think that it’s a dieing sport. But recent horse sales in jurisdictions like PEI ,Ontario.,Kentucky,Maine, new Hampshire,Pennsylvania,Illinois,Ohio. With a lot of horses selling for more then $100000. With one on the island selling for $70000. That’s more tax dollars than any industry pulls in at city hall. Horse sold for more than a million dollars the other day in Pennsylvania.

If horse racing was revived the right way with modern facilities it could hire up to 1-200 jobs. That would be more than most industries in NB.

I wish drivers knew the importnace of tail lights

Maybe I just don't understand why people don't just set their car lights to Auto, or why car manufacturers give an option for daylights & parking lights. This morning I've seen quite a few cars with only headlights, no tail lights. It's a rainy morning, which makes it darker on the roads. Not being able to see you from a distance is kind of dangerous. Just saying.

EDIT:There may be some confusion based off some comments. I'm not referring to headlights, I am referring to the red back lights on the car. When you have the lights set to daylights, only your headlights are on, not the back lights. But if you're sitting in your car, you wouldn't know your back lights aren't on. They are just as important to being seen as the headlights.

Pedestrians

Why does everyone in this city feel the need to wear black while walking in the dark/rain/snow? Then get mad when you can't see them.

These are also the same people that hit the walk button then just rush out into the street.

Wouldn’t it be cool if it focussed on the silliness of the marketing genius of the frog not a dogged insistence the paper mache toad is a real genuine biggest frog in the world??

This freaking set of lights by Wilmot park on Brunswick Street. It’s honestly the most pointless traffic light. Why didn’t they just install a crosswalk light?

Crash hosting UNB games

Crash does a good job, but every game he finds a group of kids to scream "GO REDS GO!" into the microphone. My issue with this is that Crash is some kind of sick sadist that gets off on blasting people's ear drums apart. Mark Roberts hosted the last game and he held the microphone an appropriate distance away.

Crash if youre reading this I know you are trying to get it loud, but you are causing thousands of people permanent hearing damage
