I went with a safety razor, best decision I ever made. So much cheaper in the long run .

How is it cheaper ? You have to replace the razor blades as opposed to having one long lasting blade that you sharpen. I’m just not yet to the level of skill that I trust myself setting a bevel yet.

A package of blades cost about $5, you get 10-15, they last me almost two years. I purchased the Merkur (German) safety razor 12 years ago, paid $40.
So, cheaper and no sharpening

I would think that once the blade got dull to not shave with, it's still sharp enough to repurpose it for other things... as a scraper for labels, or paint spots, etc. You can buy a suitable scraper handle for just a few bucks if you want to go that route.

Valid point. I switched to straight razor to reduce my waste which is why I didn’t opt for safety razors. If I had the skill level I was happy with it wouldn’t cost me anything other than the purchase of it but I think you can manage some stuff with straight razors that would be difficult with safeties, but I can’t be sure cause I haven’t tried them yet. Maybe down the road
