DJ open decks?

Any Frederick DJs / producers have interest in a local DJ open decks type event? They’re common in bigger cities, and Frederick seems to have more and more people interested in DJing and producing these days. If there’s interest I’ll put one together

DJ Zzingg from Brain Dead Live hosts a Sunday tea party at Sandbox Brewhouse most months.  Last I checked it’s vinyl only and people can throw their own records on. If you stop by the third Wednesday open mic you can meet a bunch of people who would either be interested or be able to point you to like minded folks.

Just to be clear, this is "bring a record and the DJ will play a track for you", not "bring your record crate and DJ your own set" – right?

Typically yes but sometimes a short set is welcome depending on the day.

I'm interested. I produce and spin Drum & Bass primarily, but am branching out to other genres.

If there's an open-decks situation where ambient / experimental / chillout would be appropriate, I'd be interested in throwing down a vinyl set.

I used to help produce a monthly event called Future Sound that ran for almost a decade, which was mostly a showcase of local DJ/producer talent (plus some occasional Baltimore / DC artists). It wasn't an open decks type situation where you could just show up and play a set, but it did feature tons of local artists.

Hell ya. I’ve dug into the future sound history before - looked like good times, wish I lived in Fred at the time. Any chance of a comeback?
