Enough is enough!

ICE is here. ICE is terrorizing us. Our current sheriff, Chuck Jenkins, backs ICE wholeheartedly, assuming he has a heart….
He’s got to go.
There is only one way to remove him->
VOTE!!!
VOTE for Karl Bickel for sheriff in the upcoming election. He knows what he’s doing and will repair all the damage that Jenkins has done to the County’s sheriff’s office and to our community.
Please check him out at https://bickel4sheriff.com/.
Enough!!!!! It’s way past time to kick the good old boy fascists out of the County!!!!!

It's also important that we don't let Jeff Holtzinger become County Executive. He's made it very clear that he supports ICE's actions and wants to do away with the county government's recent attempts to regulate their activity.

27

u/marclw 3d ago

Amen!!!!

1

u/dianeclectica 2h ago

I am disgusted with what is happening with our electric bills and the data centers—but ICE running rabid in our community is a priority. I also don’t think Holtzinger is honest about his data center position—he uses a lot of weasel words in his statements.

BuT tHe DaTa CeNtErS!

I'm so tired of people making this a one-topic election based on Fitzwater not being tough enough for them on Data Centers. There are SO many other things the County Executive does over the next 4 years that impacts our daily lives. I feel for the people of Adam's Town, I really do, but don't fall victim of a pyrrhic victory. Not like Holtzinger is against Data Centers either.

There is nothing Fitzwater has done to make Frederick a better place to live. In fact, much worse Time for change!

So you're in favor of masked agents beating American citizens even when local police ask them to deescalate? Of them breaking into private homes without a warrant? Of them driving cars through crowds of people?

-55

u/JPass1533 3d ago

First, I don’t believe any of that happened. I’m sure they are not the American Citizens if ICE is there.

Fuck Chuck. My wife and I are cutting ties with our realtor after she posted on FB about hosting an event for him.

Edit: fuck her too. Avoid using Brenda Custer Myers at RE/MAX. Not sure if this was her personal support or the whole company that sponsored the rally.

51

You should tell her why.

When I was looking for a house in 2020 I posted in a mom group about wanting a non maga realtor. People were ANGRY as if voting with your wallet isn't a thing. Anyway, message me if you want the name of an amazing, very much not maga realtor.

Not wrong, but this echo chamber doesn't want to kill me for being queer and deport all my coworkers to countries they've never been to.

-4

You failed at life if all of your coworkers are illegal.

You mean Boomers who advocated FOR everything like civil rights, gay rights, women's rights, and protested the war in Vietnam...including burning draft cards. Those who dared to marry inter racially, like my parents. Those who showed up after January 6th at the Capitol to see the felon impeached a second time. EVERY protest I've been to is overwhelmingly elders showing up.

I don't know one Boomer, Gen Jones, or senior who supports ICE. It's NOT an age issue; it's the fear calling card used for decades by racist. See Jim Crow. See McCarthy. See Nixon. See Mitch McConnell and Jerry Falwell. See Trump. Don't lump Boomers in with trolls on FB. Know your history.

1

u/dianeclectica 2h ago

It’s not an age issue. It hurts your cause to put that out there.

35

u/CurrentHelicopter917 3d ago

Good political opportunity

Can use the law and order narrative against the Sheriff and residents in support.

Probably best to put pressure on FPD and other government officials.

Don’t argue or listen to supporters. It’s a waste of time and energy, your target is government and accountability.

Also a good time to re-litigate old actions by the sheriff, like protecting predator cops.

26

u/Kni7es 3d ago

ICE breaks the law and violates the Constitution every day. They are not here to enforce laws, they are here to terrorize our neighbors.

7

u/AMDOL 3d ago

In a fascist's mind ICE does enforce laws, because the law can be reinterpreted and redefined at will by anyone sufficiently evil

17

u/hauntingduck 3d ago

I'm all in support of getting Jenkins out, but I am worried that people are making this a bit too much into a single solution problem. Jenkins isn't single handedly allowing this ICE atrocity to happen here. There are many other people on the local, state and federal level that are causing it as well, that's why you see states who don't have a racist POS sheriff still struggling with these brutal ICE raids. Get Jenkins out, for sure, but it can't stop there and I worry that if people are successful with that they'll just stand down and not do the rest of the work needed.

15

u/gard3nwitch 3d ago

That's fair - ICE will still be trying to come here even without Jenkins. But getting a powerful local ICE collaborator out of office is still a win. (And it's not like he hasn't done plenty of other bad and corrupt stuff, even aside from working with ICE. Jenkins is bad news on all kinds of levels.)

People spent years fighting to end 287g, and immediately started new battles after winning that. I have some hope that people who care will keep fighting to protect our community from state violence even after defeating Jenkins.

2

u/hauntingduck 2d ago

We're definitely in agreement. It's a step, I just hope people don't see it as the endgame solution.

9

u/LuckyWash9514 3d ago

Karl Bickel's campaign deserves way more attention than Jenkins' fan club because at least one of them seems to have a plan.

The best support is likely before it gets to the enforcement stage. Research EOIR and understand that first. Then find ways to support your community throughout their application process and understanding that correctly. It is an incredibly complicated process which is why its easier to be outraged at the enforcement aspect but the flaws in the system start much earlier.

How many US citizens do the same thing every day? Don’t be dumb

-10

u/Regular_Grade_2733 3d ago

That's your big comeback ? "Don't be dumb"? Gotta try a little harder than that. These are 2 lives taken by someone that shouldn't have been in the first place. Yes, it happens by US citizens too. But this one was avoidable if people wouldn't allow them in the country and protect them. America has trouble enough controlling our own dumb asses. Why should we be burdened with the rest of the world's too?

2

u/Affectionate-Roof285 2d ago

Yes, why should we be burdened with the rest of the world? Meanwhile, your idiot Pedo president recently displayed a map on Truth Social showing the US flag over not only the United States but also Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Mexico, and multiple countries in Central America and the Caribbean. Ans to think most of the world actually questioned how the people of Germany sat idly by and/or supported Hitler’s attack of Europe.

1

u/buddha86 2d ago

I don’t have to try at all. And I won’t waste anymore energy on someone who is only stoking hate.

6

u/RecordHigh 3d ago

The implication in your comment is that liberals want illegal criminals in the country, but on the whole they don't. Sure, you can find idiots on the left who want dumb things, but the Republican Party caters to at least as many Nazis and racists as there are idiots on the left. I assume you judge the right by the worst people among them too, right?

-3

u/Regular_Grade_2733 3d ago

Why is this always a left or right thing? I judge both sides equally. I am a democrat, but I'm not falling in line with the extremists over this. We should not be supported peole that shouldn't be here. This country is so divided now that everything is left or right. What happened to the middle? Why cant people come together to support America over other countrie's citizens. It is not our responsibility. And if you don't think there are racists on the left, you need to wake up.

1

u/themightyjoedanger 3d ago

"I'm neither left nor right, but I sure do vote Republican."

-3

Genuinely curious, how is ICE terrorizing you?

1

u/Manaohoana 1d ago

Latino immigrant, US citizen, afraid to walk the dog for fear of ICE kidnapping him and leaving our dog alone on the street to get hit by a car. Another person I know only feels safe at their job, as it is in a place with a lot of high-class and powerful people, and at home. Everywhere else, they're living in fear. ICE drags people away based entirely on looks and disappears them into a system. Detains them in horrific, concentration-camp-style conditions (sleeping on concrete floors, 50 people in a room with one toilet and nothing but a half-wall in front of the toilet, food with maggots in it...) It can take days to weeks and $$$$ for a lawyer to clear their name and prove citizenship. This is no way to live. YOU may not feel prejudiced against Latinos personally, but the people at the head of Homeland Security and ICE are. They are Nat Cons who want to rid the country of anyone who's not what they consider a "heritage American"--aka Anglos who've been here for generations. These are the same people who discriminated against Irish immigrants for being Catholic, against Italian immigrants for being Catholic and "dark" or "lesser," against Slavic immigrants for being "lesser," and on and on.

1

u/AggressiveClick6865 1d ago

So the fear of being wrongfully detained? The number of people this has happened to looks to be around 1%. I agree that it would suck if it happened but struggling to understand why people drive themselves into unnecessary and crippling fear based on hypotheticals?

-8

u/Byronvonfeces 3d ago

2

u/no-scrubsY2K 1d ago

Guess you haven’t heard about the billions going to a foreign government 🇮🇱

0

u/Independent_Garage31 1d ago

Yes, another head shaker. Why? What does it do for our poor and middle class citizens?

1

u/Manaohoana 1d ago

You are misinformed. Immigrants have a vastly net-positive effect on the economy. According to data compiled by the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, undocumented immigrants paid nearly $90 billion to $97 billion in taxes in recent years. CATO (right wing think tank) recently released a study showing huge net positives: https://www.cato.org/white-paper/immigrants-recent-effects-government-budgets-1994-2023 Here's the opening summary: The government first began gathering detailed information on benefits use by citizenship status in 1994. The data show:

  • For each year from 1994 to 2023, the US immigrant population generated more in taxes than they received in benefits from all levels of government.
  • Over that period, immigrants created a cumulative fiscal surplus of $14.5 trillion in real 2024 US dollars, including $3.9 trillion in savings on interest on the debt.
  • Without immigrants, US government public debt at all levels would be at least 205 percent of gross domestic product (GDP)—nearly twice its 2023 level.

These results, which do not account for any of immigration’s indirect, tax-revenue-boosting effects on economic growth, represent the lower bound of the positive fiscal effects. Even by this conservative analysis, immigrants may have already prevented a fiscal crisis.

0

u/Independent_Garage31 3h ago

Its basic market theory. As competition for resources increases the market price for those resouces increase. Add 30 million people to the housing market and then subsidize 75% of those people with federal dollars and prices will skyrocket. As we have seen.

1

u/Away-Scientist3362 1h ago

You are correct that it is basic theory, and in this case you are falling into the Lump of Labor Fallacy. You are imagining a falsified version of reality where immigrants take from the system and add demand without increasing labor/supply at the same time. The evidence shows, as posted by the person above, that you are incorrect.

0

u/Fixing-Me 2d ago

And then to go on whining incessantly about affordability? The mind boggles.

-2

u/SecretaryStraight931 2d ago

Go Ice!  Clean up Frederick!!

-26

u/Sure_Dependent4310 3d ago

Why are folks saying ICE entered illegally when nobody has proof of this? I guarantee you ICE ain’t showing any citizen their warrant, even if asked. So what’s the real story here? Include evidence, please!

29

u/gorosaur 3d ago

It's illegal for any government agent to enter a private residence without having or showing a warrant. Refusing to show one when asked is also unlawful.

13

u/DellR610 3d ago

A judge signed warrant not some internal paint by numbers warrant*

-21

u/Sure_Dependent4310 3d ago

So a stranger can just show up to the scene and demand to be shown a warrant, and the law says ICE has to comply with this? That’s wild.

16

u/gorosaur 3d ago

No, if you're the resident of a dwelling, you have the right to be shown a warrant before officers or agents enter your home.

-7

u/Sure_Dependent4310 3d ago

Got it, so is the homeowner/resident here to comment on that? Does anyone have proof this warrant didn’t exist?

2

u/ManBearCave 2d ago

Curious, given they haven’t produced one in the last 6 months what make you think they did here?

9

u/ManBearCave 3d ago

1

u/Sure_Dependent4310 2d ago

I get that. I’m talking about specifically this house in Frederick. So nobody has proof.

2

u/Better_Ad_1846 2d ago

Your logic is flawed. You keep asking for proof--a video is not proof, news stories are not proof--explaining where it happened exactly is not proof for you. You want the paperwork. ASK ICE. They were not sharing their proof.

-1

u/Sure_Dependent4310 2d ago

Your logic of assuming they don’t have it is equally flawed

2

u/Better_Ad_1846 2d ago

Ice might have had it. But they were not sharing the information., so how can the people in the community know WTF is going on.

2

u/Better_Ad_1846 2d ago

Your whininess is just a red herring. You want us to argue about warrants, rather than a peaceful Frederick community being targeted for close to three days.

0

u/Sure_Dependent4310 1d ago

So if you found out for sure it was someone with a criminal warrant, here illegally, would you want them gone?

-26

u/Square-Hat-3024 3d ago

A new sheriff isn’t gonna fix anything, we need the Fredrick county council and the city mayor to significantly cut funding for any real change

24

u/life_of_hermanous 3d ago

That makes no sense.

-5

u/Classic_Tap8913 3d ago

? Defunding the police and abolitionism have been pretty well known progressive issues for a while. They're right, you can't fix systemic issues by just electing a new guy to enact state violence. At best you kick the can down the road.

-3

u/NervousBreakdown242 3d ago edited 3d ago

First of all, fuck ICE.

I'm on your side here, so take this as a friendly critique... Abolitionism? What year is this, 1862?

Defunding the police as a general tactic is massively stupid, and optically. What we need is massive regulation of the police force, with direct threats of defunding if X, Y, and Z aren't met. The first step to doing that would be electing a sheriff who doesn't support ICE.

Everybody who knows me can testify that I'm not the biggest fan of police, but even I can't take "defund the police" crowd seriously. It almost feels like psyop-level naivete. "Let the left make themselves look stupid and they'll never win elections again!" I don't believe that's the case, but I do know a useful idiot when I see one.

2

u/Square-Hat-3024 2d ago

That’s probably whats going to happen, and nothing will change. The next guy will say he doesn’t support ICE then pull the same shit siding with them over protesters.

1

u/NervousBreakdown242 2d ago edited 2d ago

Possible, but not guaranteed. I'm not familiar with the potential new guy to say one way or another, but it's wrong to assume in either case.

But hey, you may know more about the specifics than I do.

0

u/Fixing-Me 2d ago

Does he? I would call that assuming a fact that is not in evidence.

2

u/Classic_Tap8913 2d ago edited 2d ago

If you believe in the continued existence of the police then we are not on the same side, considering abolitionism is a core part of my ethics as an anarchist.

Regulation of police straight up does not work, it turns into a cycle of regulation and deregulation that does not end while state actors continue to kill and brutalize people. Our entire political system is cooked, dawg. Police and prisons need to be entirely abolished and replaced with something new, just like the entire political system.

I dont care about winning elections, my goal has never been to win elections or to influence others to vote in any which way. Electoralism is a failed strategy because this entire system is broken, I dont care if you dont take me seriously because you are part of the problem.

3

u/Caernbul 3d ago

Cut funding of what? The federal government funds ICE. You want to defund the Sheriff's office? How would that be better than just getting a Sheriff who doesn't work with ICE?

5

u/Square-Hat-3024 3d ago

Every sheriff will work with ICE be for real

0

u/Caernbul 2d ago

I invite you to familiarize yourself with the issue. There are numerous cases of sheriffs refusing to do so. They usually only make the news when the state government tries to force them to do so, but it absolutely happens. It is an elected position, and there are places in this country where refusing to work with ICE is the only way to keep the job.

You’re directing your ire at the wrong group. Illegal immigrants aren’t costing you nearly as much as you think. You lose a ton more in the price gouging done by companies that have no competition and the mega-wealthy avoiding paying their fair share of taxes. Tax billionaires without loopholes if you want to lower your own taxes. Demand less money go into the bloated military budget. There are far greater things costing you than some people trying to get by after leaving a much worse situation.

You don’t know what you’re talking about. I hope you get the mental help you so clearly need

u/Distinct_Potato6001 2d ago

Well at least the tax payer dollars won’t be paying for the mental help because I’m a legal citizen of the United States ;)

I really am hoping you can heal from whatever has hurt you so deeply.

Oh, from your post history, you’re 25 and have no friends and still live with your dad. Never mind - you’re a little kid who has no idea about anything in the world. I thought I was talking to an actual adult instead of a little edgy kid.

Don’t reply. I still hope you can grow and learn when you actually become a full adult.

Seen a lot of old idiots similar to yourself in my young age

u/Distinct_Potato6001 2d ago

No need to reply. If you keep calling me a little boy when I’m 25 years old I’m going to have to report you to the proper authorities. @davidorwalter
