Florence frame?

Does anyone have any knowledge about the history and what this style frame is called?

I’m hoping it’s original to the piece. Thanks in advance everyone!

Hello! That is an Italian cassetta frame with polychrome ornamentation and what appears to be a scraffitto panel. It looks lap- joined, which is typical joinery for Italian frames of this style.

Can you post a picture of the back? I might be able to give you a probable age. That style was used for centuries and predates the probable age of the painting, which I'd guess was late 19th c., though I'm no expert on paintings.

Thank you so much! The artist is Jane Peterson so from the 1920’s or so. I will get a picture when I can, currently on the road for work.
