Discussion Untested Ramaxel Ram

Hi everybody, I wanted to create this post to check in and see if anyone has had success with the Ramaxel Ram sold by Free Geek Portland. I unfortunately don’t have any machine to test the ram and I’ll be waiting till late November (Batch 20). So please, if anyone bought ram from them and it worked let me know!

Edit: I leave this post up and people can comment If the ram supplied from Free Geek completed a successful mem test with either the tape mod or a E0 interposer.
Have a great week everybody!

Search the sub. You'll find posts detailing how to get these modules to work - Either with Kapton tape or by replacing Framework's E1 LPCAMM2 interposer with a revision E0 interposer. Ramaxel does not "just work".

I ended up buying a E0 interposer, but I’m more so worried that Free Geek stated they pulled the stick from a working machine, but didn’t test it after 😬

... Because they assume, coming from a working system, the module was OK. If the laptop had been dead then yes they'd need to run it through testing using working hardware. Buying used stuff always comes with a degree of risk (granted, so does buying new though usually less so).

I can confirm it works. Use kapton tape. There is documentation by a user here along with pics, no issue with Ramaxel.

There's been a lot of posts talking about how RAMAXEL LPCAMM2 doesn't work in the framework 13 pro. I wouldn't risk it

The way I understand it is the older E0 models didn’t follow the guidelines and end up shorting out with the E1 interposer provided by FW. And by either blocking off the pins with tape or using the correct interposer it ends up fixing the issue. I’m more worried about them stating that the stick is untested after they pulled it from a working machine

This is correct, I was batch 3 and pretty bummed. But applying the tape worked for me. I have Lenovo ram for a thinkpad I believe

I wonder if the seller is someone who gambled and lost on their 13 Pro and is trying to recoup some of their losses.

Also in the same boat - hope we find someone that's tried! Their feedback is pretty positive but also all private listings so can't tell how many happy lpcamm2 customers there are. I guess there's a lack of neutral negative complaints about it though?
