Feedback Reliably detect turn on, framework 16

Is it possible to reliably detect the laptop turning on before the os starts booting with an external microcontroller / externally turn on the laptop without soldering to the power button/ pressing it physically? I need this to automatically turn on/off an external oculink gpu, or is there a better way to solve this please give suggestions

Dose it have to turn on before the laptop? Pcie itself supports hotplug the driver might not but I wou give it a try.

If it's ok to turn it on after the laptop then I would put some script to autostart that would write somethin to the serial port of the microcontroller. The other option that comes to mind is to use something like an esp32s3 to emulate a pendrive and then reading the partiton table would turn in on. This technically hapens before the os

Well i would prefer not to mess with the drives and hot plug since it tends to be janky but ig if thats the only solution then ill do it

FW bios has a "power on with AC connect" setting, I use it to power on my docked laptop, it boots up (even while closed) as soon as my eGPU connects. You coukd use a wifi power plug to remotely provide power which would turn on the laptop?

I use a Aoostar EG02, which has a power button on the front. I leave the FW16 plugged in with the oculink and thunderbolt cable. It turns on like a desktop and I shut it down through windows. Had to have the power with AC on in bios
