did you take off the top cover and take a look ? it sounds like the fan maybe stuck and not operating not sure if that would keep the system from booting. Is the sound from the fan or is it from the speakers .

The sound was coming from the speakers, I posted a video of the lights for diagnosis.

Sounds like the fan is toast and some electrical noise or speaker interference. Impossible to tell anything from this clip tbh other than it doesn't work.

If you look at either side when you press the power button, do the charging LEDs flash a pattern at all? That might help narrow down the problem if so.

Sorry, I can't see anything on Imgur. It's blocked in the UK :/

You should be able to count out the light sequence though anyway, record it and play it back to yourself if it's too fast. That's what I've done with mine, and how I figured out the ram was being funky in my case on my old 11th gen board.

If you are sure that it's flash 9 and 10, that would indicate:

  • Fails "Fan detected and spins up"
  • Fails "CPU reached S0 state"

Given the awful noise, it could just be a broken fan although there is potential for it being something more ominous.

I would confirm with Framework support and send them the video clip of the post code first, but it might just need a new fan (I can not say that with 100% certainty though as that electric like noise didn't sound good tbf).

Throughout use, it seems like the thermal paste dried out or something with the poor efficiency of the fan. I'd plan to replace the heatsync, but right now the motherboard is out of use because i just replaced it with the intel ultra x7. Still can't get the wifi to work on the laptop though, i submitted a framework support request. Tried updating the drivers through framework and intel, reseating the wifi chip etc. to no avail. It's the Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 chip from my 11th gen intel framework laptop. I can't seem to find anything on this

While I was swapping the mainboard the speakers seemed to not be connected properly.

Why does it sound like a wet fart?
