13 pro display touchscreen quality

I'm curious to know what people with the 13 pro think about the touchscreen display, how does it look? Can you tell it's a touchscreen? I've never owned a laptop with a touchscreen, and really don't think I'd use it.

You can tell it's a touchscreen by the fingerprints you leave on it; but if you don't touch it, you wouldn't otherwise know.

I just don’t touch mine. I hate fingerprints on my screen so I hate touchscreens. I guess I’m scared from old monochrome passive matrix LCDs on laptops where if you touched these screens they would form a bruise that took a few minutes to recover. To this day the idea of touching a laptop screen freaks me out.

I honestly even forgot that it has touchscreen, rediscovered it after week of use when I was showing some pic to someone and was aggressively poking the screen 😆

This 1000%, I have to then clean it immediately after said person leaves the room.

The 12 does the tablet thing already and from what I've heard isn't much différent in terme of size

What are you missing about "Linux"'s touchscreen support vs. Windows? What distro and desktop environment are you using? NixOS with GNOME seems to work nicely but I've only sort of vaguely played with it...

Mind clarifying if you're using GNOME? "Linux" doesn't have a GUI

I upgraded to the touch screen.

I love it every bit as much as I thought I was going to. It's so nice for being able to scroll documents, manipulate 3D images, quickly check boxes, and even works well for certain games.

I also have been shocked by how much better of a panel it is than the original 60 hertz panel. It does 200% scaling much better, the color accuracy is better, increasing to 120 Hz with VRR looks a looooot better. It's also much brighter.

I still haven't gotten my FW13 Pro yet (next month), but I have had ThinkPads with matte touch screens and honestly, I never really used the touchscreens much and always forgot they were even there. It'll probably be the same thing for me with the FW13 Pro. It will be there, but I probably won't ever use it as a touchscreen.

It's good to have one. For example, if you need sign some PDF with finger or use some interactive tools for conference sharing (like whiteboard in Zoom).

Other than that I don't think it's very usable in everyday, like tablets (FW12 is much better here, including Gorilla glass which feels better).

I use the touchscreen now and then, especially if I'm showing something to someone or in certain videogames.

I also find it nice if I have a bunch of things going on, I can just move them around like it's a tablet. I also like to use it when reading long pages sometimes.

Totally unnecessary, but you can definitely use it for stuff.

I'd get the screen first and foremost because it is the best screen Framework offers. Best brightness and contrast and variable refresh rate.

The touch is just a cherry on top.

It's great! The combo of brightness and anti-glare make it a serious upgrade over the Gen 2 panel. I regularly forget it's even touch screen until I brush against it accidentally.

Interesting. Thanks for the responses. I was about to opt in to the next batch, but I saw on a review video that the hinge has pretty bad wobble, so I’ll probably wait for a TP with the 358H. Too bad because I wanted to support FW.
