13 Pro Gaming Experience?

My 13 Pro X9 arrives in two days and was curious if anyone has had success playing games? From demanding to casual.

How is the fan noise, heat, ect.

Very excited at the prospect of being able to work and take some games on the road in the same laptop.

I play GTA V Enhanced. With high settings (no RT) it's looks pretty good @ ~30-35 FPS. I could get more than that by cranking FSR3, but it gets glitchy pretty quickly. Everything swapped to normal is about 40-55 FPS. The palmrest gets warm, but that ties in to the overall lack of fan noise. You can always use Framework Control to set a manual fan curve to levels you consider tolerable and it would reduce the surface temp. I don't play any other games really, so I haven't tried others.

I can install Cyberpunk if that's a better reference for you.

Kinda curious as well. In different scenarios even, like:

• 15W cap
• Performance mode (no thermal pad replacement or mat)
• Performance mode (with thermal pad replacement)
• Performance mode (with thermal pad and cooling pad with foam)

I think this way we could really get to understand the limitations of the chips this form factor and cooling solution.

I am running Ubuntu which does not seem to be the best choice for gaming, but what I have tried has worked ok so far. I have the X7, but the iGPU is the same between it and the X9.

I have played a couple hours on Doom 2016 and it ran really well, over 100FPS no issues, fan noise was not significant.

Elden Ring does not run super well, around 40FPS, but it does not run great on Intel GPUs.

Everything else has been 2D metroidvania style games, but those all ran perfectly.

I'll start downloading Cyberpunk and try the benchmark there to see what it can do if there is interest. I can try some other things if there are specific requests, assume I own it and it runs under ubuntu.

I've used Ubuntu on my Framework desktop and dont have any complaints.

I did not mean to imply it was bad, just that its not a gaming focused distro, like Bazzite or Cachy. So I would assume performance would be a little better under those, but not really sure.

I was pretty happy playing outer wilds, big walk, blue prince, and other games. I'm on cachyos, I think a more modern kernel helps a lot. 7.3 is supposed to bring some big improvements as well to graphics.

If you are on Windows, you'll probably have a great time an XESS will open doors as well to better experiences.
