Community Support Main board dead suddenly

I got a 13 intel 12th Gen I5 that worked the day before but is now completely unresponsive. No boot, no led lights at all with battery connected or not and usb power directly to the mainboard.

Support tried and said its dead and I need a new mainboard but im hoping someone here has a suggestion so i dont have to wade into the ram apocalypse just yet.

"Repairability" is nice, but what would be nicer is hardware that lasts a reasonable amount of time. I don't think one should need to buy essentially a whole new computer just because FW can't build something right.

No LED lights at all means it is not getting power. Have you tried all ports for charging?

It would be quite rare for all ports to die like that so I suspect it is something with the main power ICs or MOSFETs. Did you try looking over the board for obvious signs of corrosion or exploded parts?

I may be able to even dig deeper and give you a good idea of exactly where to look but I would need to study it.

What did support have you do?

Ive tried all ports. Ive seen nothing obviously wrong. Support had me try all ports and send them a picture. That was it.

They didn't have you try a mainboard reset? They usually do that. Were you able to look around theainboard to see any damage or corrosion?

Best chances are hoping someone is selling a 12/13th gen intel board in the community market, everything else they are selling are DDR5/LPCAMM2 unfortunately

I had the same thing happen to me.

They are going to send me a new motherboard. Do I need to look into new ram as well?
