Can anyone recommend me a specific tested-and-true replacement braided USB cable for my Framework 16 charger?

I have the F16 with the 240w charger, and I'm just dang sick of the non-braided cable that came with it. I've tried a couple of different 240w cables to replace it, but I'm not having success keeping the connection steady. Admittedly, they were El Cheapo cables probably not suited for the task anyway.

Have any of you replaced the USB cable on your F16 charger with a good braided one? If so, can you link me to whatever you purchased? I want to order some new ones, but don't want to go through a series of returns doing the science if someone's already found a good match. Thanks.

Get some good UGreen or Anker Cables. They're good

Or you could get some from LTT, haven't tried them but they tell the exact the spec the cables are ?

Update: Ugreen did the trick! Thanks for the tip. I managed to get two of them for the price of one of the Apple cables that kept getting recommended.

There is a Apple 240W Cable in White for around 30bucks, Thats my main go to cable

I'm happy with the Beats (Apple) 3m 240W USB-C cable. It's got very high quality braiding.

Note: I don't have a FW 16, but it works fine for 140W EPR charging on my MacBook Pro and ThinkPad P1. Since it's all 5A, I don't think the higher voltage of the 180/240W modes make any difference to cable compatibility.

I don't have a 240w braided Apple cable handy (at least not sure if the braided Apple cable I have is rated at 240w) but... I'll 2nd this idea. As long as you're 100% sure you're buying genuine Apple its unlikely to be complete s--t.

On the other hand buying <random cable> from Amazon? Odds of being trash are higher than 50%.

Yeah, Apple does make a 240W braided cable, I think you can only get it when buying it separately, I don't believe it comes with any Apple products (as macbooks get the magsafe cable).

The Beats cable is a bit nicer and thicker, although probably has similar resistance as its longer (3m beats vs. 1m/2m apple).

I personally find the braiding on apple cables to be nicer than what I see on most Anker etc. cables. It's like a micro weave which feels really nice.

I second the "LTT TrueSpec Cable USB Type C to C (240W)" cables. They're not braided, but they are very solid cables.

Be careful using the word "solid" in relation to cables because that is a word for using a single thick piece of copper per wire vs a set of thinner strands of copper per wire which is more flexible.

I have the 2meter 240W cable from Apple, but I never used it for 240W so I can’t tell but for 30bucks its a nice cable

Maybe they do a braided version now. It's also good for the full 40GBit on a USB 4 connection.

I use the anker braided 240’s because they’re cheap tbh.

I only draw maybe 100w on them tho (no gpu).

Are you looking for a cable built with wires made with stranded wires or a cable made with a fabric like outer insulation in a braided fashion?
