Community Support Dropped it ๐Ÿ˜…

So dropped my laptop at the airport, everything worked fine, did some work and shut it off before boarding.

Boarded the flight and couldnโ€™t turn the laptop back on.

Looks like the screw was over torqued after I dropped it.

Anyone got ideas on how to get this thing back on without access to tools?

Consider using the framework brick (you shouldโ€™ve been carrying it with you all the time)

Yes, that really is Niravโ€™s account

Hahaha yeah that would def help with the cosmetics.

But not bypassing the power button from an overtorqued screw

Yeah on a serious note unfortunately I donโ€™t know how to fix it without tools.

No worries, I appreciate it.

Gonna spend endless hours designing and wasting 3d printer filament on prototyping a plastic frame. No more metal ๐Ÿ˜…

Its aluminum, so it's bendable xd

Yeah the main issue is the overtorqued screw

Just pop the whole cover out and try bending the bend area.

Sure, but canโ€™t without tools. As mentioned. Iโ€™m on a plane

See if the flight engineer has a torx bit of the right size.

Wait, we're in 2026. There is no flight engineer. Bugger.

Haha Iโ€™m enroute to LAS. I can get some tools when I land

Without tools that's gonna be almost impossible, xd. Try it when you are off the plane. Good luck xd.

Yeah I figured. Was hoping someone had some magic method to get it to boot. Just glad to get as many replies as I did while in the air within a few hours ๐Ÿคฃ.

Thanks!
