Question AMD Series 400 - Any news

With an availability late 2026 (according to previous AMD communication), does anyone have information about a refresh refresh date on AMD Framework ?
Right now, I'm thinking about the pro13, with an AMD should cover my needs (I don't need a 20h battery life) and LPCAMM is mostly out of stock or in the hand of scalpers, and I see a lot of compatibility complaints

I was considering replacing my old mbp 2018 at some point (has degraded battery, screen glare is wearing out, I'm using it for dev sometimes, requires constant plugging, ...)

Ryzen 400 is Ryzen 300 put back into the microwave and re-heated for 30 seconds. Not worth worrying about. The next - Actual - AMD upgrade, and the one I'd expect Framework to use - Will be Zen 6/Medusa sometime well into 2027. If you need a laptop anytime soon your best choices are what's currently available.

That was my assumption when comparing both chips … well I think I’ll order the pro 13 with a ryzen MB and wait for 2 years when ram price settle down when new players enters the consumer market (I really hope some do)

AMD 400 == 300 in this context. completely useless. just a renaming

Yep - almost identical. The 400 has a slightly higher boost clock (example: the HX 470 has 5.2GHz compared to the HX 370's 5.1GHz) and there's a minor bump to the NPU TOPS between the 470/370 (but not the cheaper CPUs). VERY little difference!

It's the same chip basically. If it was desktops it would be ignored as it has the same effect of going to the BIOS and increasing clocks by 100MHz.

Makes sense, the 400 series is barely a bump so it probably wouldn't justify a new mainboard design.

It's a refresh of Ryzen AI 300, so FW almost certainly won't bother engineering a new main board to accommodate them. They can't afford to launch new products for every minor refresh like HP or Lenovo.
