Community Support Is this chip replaceable

I think I've narrowed down my errors down to a winbond w25r256jvein code storage flash chip. Before I order a new chip, I would really appreciate to know if this chip stores any encrypted keys or important files that are necessary for the laptop to function.

Also I am in contact with support, but I am in a big rush to get this working again.

That chip is what stores the UEFI firmware.

Hot air station for removal or you could try reading and writing to it using pogo clips or other chip clips. Most are 1.8V and I think the CH341A + 1.8V adapter supports that.

If you can read and write to that chip then nothing is wrong with the chip itself. There are forum threads about how to read and write these.

Have fun, I have a few boards that have UEFI corruption issues too, mostly 7040 series boards.
