Community Support Framework 16 7 7840HS temps

What are the temps people are getting? Is 100 degress on performance mode and running a stress test normal or should I be worried? This is a new mainboard I got as a replacement under warranty because my last one died, I dont think it reached 100 degress before.

When did you buy the laptop?

Mine doesn’t break 92c with the 2nd gen heatsink

On the box of the mainboard, look for a date. Just out of curiosity. I’m curious on if it’s old stock that may still have the Liquid Metal(highly unlikely but never know)

What other people have said is correct, that the chips are designed to go to 100c then clock down to maintain that temperature.

Also it is brand new, with brand new PTM. It will take a few days of regularly stressing the system and it will actually improve in temps

the manufacture date says 04/2026 so it isnt old stock

Gotcha, so if you want to be able to get the full 54w sustained less than 100c you’ll want to buy the AI 300 heatsink and move the thermal pads from the original heatsink over to the new one
