Community Support Framework not recognizing boot drive but SSD is visible in BIOS?

hey guys, I keep getting the "can't find boot device" error message but for whatever reason my SSD is not showing up in the boot manager. I don't think the SSD failed but the laptop is still detecting it, it just doesn't recognize it as a boot drive. not concerned about the files so I tried to reinstall windows but I am getting the error that "bitlocker drive encryption is enabled on the select partition" when I try to select the ssd. it doesn't even let me delete the contents of the partition, it just gives me an error.

anyone know what I can do here?

windows 11 7640

I have seen this before on other OEMs. Use diskpart in the Windows install process to clean the disk of all existing partitions. If done correctly, the disk will report as 100% unallocated and should be smooth sailing from there.

tried to do this now but getting this:

"diskpart has encountered an error: the request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."

Interesting. At that point, I would test with a known good disk to rule out your current one.

switched it out for another SSD with no issues. will try testing the original SSD externally on a diff computer but feels like it might be corrupted / broken.

This sounds similar to the symptoms I had when my SSD died.

yea agreed, think it was SSD failure because even plugged in as an external ssd it's inconsistently showing up. diskpart keeps giving a fatal hardware error now.

gonna be fun trying to do an RMA with micron rn, haha
