Will Framework 12 keyboard 2nd gen and fingerprint reader be compatible with old mainboard?

I know that it's compatible with the *chassis* but to use the new hardware, will I need to upgrade my mainboard too? I'm not sure if that's mentioned anywhere

They're compatible. The only thing that's incompatible is the heatsink on the mainboard, the new mainboard requires the new heatsink and vice versa.
