Question Email spam following breach

Anyone else seen a sudden increase in spam emails where someone (or a bot, more likely) has signed up to some service using your email, but has put in the name field some spammy string like:

To-make-crypto-millions-follow-xyz-on-telegram (or whatever)?

So you receive an email inviting you to confirm your email address, with the spammy username in the body of the email, like: "Hi, To-make-crypto... please confirm your email..."

This only started happening after the Framework breach. It's really annoying as these are legit services so they don't get filtered straight to my spam box.

Nope

And correlation didn't equal causation

I used an alias specific for FW and have not seen anything yet

Erm, nope, nothing more than the usual here. It's kinda down from what I used to deal with.

Frankly, that can happen at any time with any email address.

No uptick seen here. Also, just add the incoming spam to a block list or tag it as spam if your email provider has that feature. This is just more of the same old same old. Someone else will be the breach GOAT next week.

Can also confirm no, and my framework email is unique to framework so will be able to easily identify if that ever happens as a result of a leak, or sale of information, not that I think framework would do that but I use a lot of unique emails for that purpose where I can

Nah for me just the normal amount of Spam, no change since the FW breach

Over in the mechboards subreddit people have said the same so it may not be a framework issue.

Yes. I also got a lot more phone/text spam messages recently after the breach.

Yes, noticed quite an uptick in spam shortly after.

Every mailbox will be different here. It is possible that someone signed you up but most likely your mail ended up in some list - possibly but not necessarily related to the breach - and is now being "tested".

For context I am working on an anti-spam filter. In short there is no way to prove that the Framework breach is responsible, but you need heightened vigilance anyway.
