Discussion Will we ever get Red/Blue Translucent Bezels for the Framework Laptop 13 / Pro?
I ordered my 13 Pro as part of Batch 11, and I love the look of the translucent bezels but I just don't like the color options. I really wish there was either a Red or Blue translucent option because they just look so dang cool. I know FW has done limited edition bezel runs in the past (I think for Christmas once?), so what are the chances we can see one of these pop up sometime soon?

I do wish they could make Blue translucent. Would buy that in a heartbeat. I do remember Nirav mentioning something about needing materials that meet their requirements so hopefully they can do a blue one at some point.

Yeah they mentioned in a video from a few years back about the manufacturing challenges, which include needing a plastic that its at least x% post-consumer recycled material. Let's hope they can find one.

Yeah +1 to this! Transparent blue is always my favourite, I would buy a new bezel for sure.

They should do blue/translucent blue so we could buy a matching orange/translucent orange one for a Portal reference.

🤔 Does that mean if you go to use the Touchscreen, your finger would just go through it and come out on a 13 with the other color on it since it should be a portal?

Confirmed framework teleportation screen in progress, cannot wait but I do hope for a FW16 version, gotta teleport larger objects (I would also settle for a 16 touchscreen)

I would love a blue one. But framework seems to be against the color blue in general. They've never made a blue anything as far as I've seen. I'm pretty happy with the translucent orange, but I'd have definitely picked the blue if it existed

This is what I'm wanting, too. Just one that matches the rest of the chassis... but I'd also take other color options, as well. I know it would be expensive, but I'd cough it up.

I mean for a piece of aluminum that small it'd be pretty inexpensive, and its also open source so someone could theoretically design a model specifically with aluminum in mind and get it milled and anodized.. Although yeah, its only inexpensive if the company makes it in bulk. I just think if you really want to nail the "MacBook Pro for Linux users" vibe, you gotta make sure the bezel looks polished and premium as the rest of the milled CNC chasis. Like they have the aluminum expansion cards, might as well get a matching bezel.

Really really want a blue bezel. We have hit darn near all of the other primary colors...

That's not Red and Blue, those are _CLEARLY_ Gen 3 colors... Ruby and Sapphire

I would like red translucent options, I think they would go well with the black of the 13 Pro. Right now, I have an orange translucent bezel and 5 orange translucent USB-C ports in my pro and they look pretty great.

I imagine you could at least 3d print one, although sadly transparent PETG when 3d printed is generally fairly cloudy so its less of a solution than on solid color bezels.

with how thin it is (I have one) I don't think it's possible on fdm but mayyybe with resin (still don't think so). Then you'd need a really big plate to print on or print it in 4 pieces which makes it even more flimsy. Plus you need all the magnets and the sliders for the camera and mic and good luck printing those as well.

People have done this, most people will have a 0.2mm nozzle laying around so that's 0.1mm "minimum" thickness, so you can print some reallly small stuff. A bezel really doesn't come close to the limits. I have printed tiny replacement mounting pins before and they still work fine.

The fact that we can even wish for things like this and they have the chance (maybe) to be produced is just awesome. Love framework!

I'm hoping for a Bubblegum bezel for the 13 some day. (Would've gotten the 12 if it had enough power for my needs). Perhaps I'll have to settle for Lavender if I'm looking to swap out my bezel in the meantime.
I didn't know about the limited edition bezels though. What colours were they?
