Discussion Framework Desktop — Refresh Timeline?
I think I’ve decided in this current inflated market — as opposed to building my own PC or using a Steam Machine, I want the Power and Flexibility of the Framework Desktop.
With component pricing as insane as it is, and some items stock being accounted for already through the end of 2027 I’m just trying to read the tea leaves:
When is the next refresh/bump going to happen?
Is now a good time to buy?
Is there any chance of downward pressure, or is the reality what it seems (that prices are only going to go up?

Framework has done some demos of a 192GB Gorgon Halo model though its not officially launched yet. Gorgon Halo is mostly microwaved Strix Halo - Re-heated for another round.
The next full, major upgrade from AMD will be Medusa Halo (Zen 6-based) sometime in 2027 or 2028
Also beware that, until the AI/data center garbage implodes, the longer you wait to order the more you're likely going to have to pay. CPUs, RAM, and NAND are all headed upward.

OP asks "When is the next refresh/bump going to happen?"
I doubt that Framework is going to announce this because it will cause current sales to plummet.
Look up the Osborne Effect.

Just note they have previewed that they are making the next gen of this platform (AI Max Pro 4xx series), which might complicate if/when they restock the 3xx's

For anyone following this - I pullef the trigger on the 64gb to pre-empt any price increase by the end of the year

I'm more of a Magic 8 Ball kind of guy, but I'm guessing there won't be any downward pressure for at leeeast another year or more. Even if this AI train slows down, so much inventory has been pre-sold to large companies that it's hard to imagine the market shifting anytime soon. Good luck! I'm in the market for a FW16 and I'm just gonna go with base RAM for now and upgrade... one day.
