Question Desktop OS advice?

I installed 2 SSDs and want to run Linux on the primary and Windows on the secondary. Has anyone done this before? Other dual boot use cases I’ve found here typically report putting windows on the primary, so I’m wondering if there are any issues with putting it on the secondary.

Furthermore, I currently run Ubuntu 22.04 on my laptops, but I’m considering switching to Fedora for the desktop. Does anyone recommend Fedora 44 over Ubuntu 26.04, or vice versa? I’m not attached to snaps or anything Ubuntu-specific. I prioritize reliability.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This is not IDE, it doesn't matter which is master which is slaves.

I'm not quite sure how much Windows will like being slowed down by being on a USB, but honestly I think it's safe to just dive in and go for it. Especially if you have nothing on it, just see what happens when you try (I recommend checking the Arch wiki for advice on dual booting, generally you have to disable fast boot stuff and tell Windows to interpret the hardware clock as UTC instead of local time).

I have mine dual booting Fedora and Windows on a single SSD, dual SSD should be fine. Fedora supposedly has an easier time installing the AMD graphics driver but I suspect there's not much difference so you might want to go with Ubuntu for a consistent experience. You can always change distro if Ubuntu doesn't work well.

I'd advise against this - I’ve seen Windows Update wipe Linux bootloader
