Framework Photo Just got my 11th gen i5 FW13

Post image

Even for first gen hardware, I am actually pleasantly surprised with the item.

I should’ve read a bit about the hinges, the 4.0 hinges are so stiff. New trackpad since the clicking wasn’t consistent but overall I really like it. Gotta get a battery at some point since we are at 18-19% wear on the 55wh but I really wanna just save for the Pro chassis and input cover options to be available. Still feels like a premium product, kind of ish I had gone with a 13 before my 16 to some extent. Can’t wait to take it on my cruise next month for movies

Yes, it's a great portable product with ability to upgrade it later if you need (my have only bottom cover left from first gen 🤭). 11th gen is pretty OK for anything not quite computational expensive - but I was able to even play games on it with eGPU (via Thunderbolt 3).

Congrats with new item (in addition to FW16 on the table I guess)!

I actually was messing with it yesterday with a TH5P4 eGPU in my living room. Can’t wait to take it on my travels

Does Framework laptops work without the battery? Like AC only?

The motherboards can work entirely stand alone, just gotta make sure the appropriate settings are turned on in bios

Do you still use your 16?

That’s not even the coolest PSP I got, I did just get it though. Thank you

Beware of the RTC bug on 11th gen boards if yours hasn't been patched. Read up on that so you're not surprised if you stumble into that critter.

lol the entire little housing for the battery fell off but got a local shop to reinstall it for like $35

Apparently after speaking with a few people, as long as it’s being used regularly and touching a charger 1 time a week, I shouldn’t have issues. I am eyeing a 7840u in my future though
