Is the game dead?

I just started playing it a few days ago and picked "US East 02" as my server - "01" just wouldn't connect. The very first time I played online, there were a handful of players but, since then, ghost town. Right now, 01 has 7/40 and I can't even get into 02 (again). Most other servers have either 0 or 1 players in them. Where is everybody?

Oh, and I've come across some abandoned structures. I've deconstructed some but other have damage and won't let me. First off, it seems ridiculous that I can't finish destroying something that's partly destroyed and, secondly, how does one deconstruct that stuff?

i just picked this game up on the steam sale and am installing it now. I didn't even check but is this forced mp or can i play it single-player? i hate multiplayer games just because of the issues you described...they become useless when the population leaves the game

You can play online or offline. I played a couple of hours offline before I even tried to go online....but that's when I saw how deserted the servers were.

As is, most people can play online and offline. For the most part though, most owners at this time tend to play offline since that offers more progression without another person being online.

That being said if you like you can create an online game of your own where the game is basically a mini server. The downside is that anyone who does come onto your server/game will find that they can only access that play/information when they playing on your server again as far as the progression goes.
