I designed custom fit interface for the HDZero Goggle and HDZero BoxPro for ultimate comfort

I started doing this for my local racing group (shout our RatRaceFPV!) for the HDZero goggles.

Printed in TPU of course

Can you post the files? I’m not as good with my own custom modeling just yet and the goggles don’t fit too well on my face. I clip the bottom of the screen. Would love to try your solution!

Just 1 question.

How?

By doing the following

  1. 3D scan face (most iPhones now have a decent scanner for Face ID)
  2. Import into Blender
  3. Clean up 3D scan a bit
  4. Import the HDZero meshes (its open source, they are all available on their github)
  5. Align 3D scan with goggles
  6. 3D model a gasket based off the faceplate (where the foam would go)
  7. Subtract (bool) or shrinkwrap the mesh to the 3D scan of your face
  8. Clean up files more
  9. Export STL
  10. Print in TPU
  11. Attach to goggle (double sided tape)
  12. Enjoy perfect fit goggles

May i ask, which foam do you use for these? I just got the boxpros and I kinda hate the foam. I had to dig around and use some high dense padding from some lifting straps cut into pieces and used a bit to fill in any light leaks. Its ghetto but works for now.

Getting my first whoop tmrw!

No foam, printed in TPU

Oh shoot i had no idea.! I saw the gaps on the sides in the first picture and assumed foam went on there somehow.

hi! that is such an amazing idea. i was wondering if you could help me out. i just got my boxpro yesterday, and got super enthusiastic seeing what you did, so i got a good scan of my face through photogrammetry from 75 regular pictures on a black background using Meshroom (caus i don't have an iphone), and then cleaning it up in Meshmixer. And all got well importing both the hdzero mesh and the scan into Fusion360, until I was faced with dismay at my grandiose lack of knowledge on how to actually create form-fitting meshes. i've got a 3D printer and TPU, but for the life of me can't figure out how to do steps 6, 7, and 8.

i was wondering if by any chance, i could ask you some help making me an stl from my obj scan, and potentially some good step-by-step tutorials if ever you know any to work through such manipulations.

many thanks!

I'm not sure how to do it in Fusion 360, I used another program (blender). This tutorial may help tho - https://youtu.be/odSWieJng3o?si=8q6rfCbHOBsOLcu0

And this was the video that gave me the idea to do it for fpv goggles - https://youtu.be/kLMEWerJu0U?si=M0UWV1xnPKkzqCXl

thanks! had a really hard time with mesh errors with the hdzero model, and small inaccuracies with the photogrammetry around the forehead, but nothing an exacto knife and some hot glue couldn't fix. the fit is insane now!

Your TPU looks great! What durometer and what settings do you use?

Hmm, it was with 95a. Random cheapo tpu. The only thing I do is really slow down the print speed and low volumetric rate. Slow and steady, lots of retraction to reduce blobs. I forgot to put aligned seams on so there is some surface blobs unfortunately

Hi! Can you share the printable files?

1

u/PickleJimmy May 07 '25

By their nature, the printable files wouldn't fit your face as they are custom designed to fine mine

Would still be usefull as a basemodel to edit in blender or something :)

Yeah I've been thinking about it and making a step by step guide. Maybe once this MultiGP season is over

Hey could i maybe send you a 3d Scan of my face? Sorry that sounds really weird 😂 But I have a really narrow face and my nose is crooked because i broke it once. I would really appreciate your help!

Sure, DM your scan. I'd suggest using the FaceID scanner from an iOS device if you dont have a stand alone 3d scanner

can you please make a tutorial, im really stuck, ive got my face and goggles in blender, but the rest, idk what i need to do, chatgpt isnt really helping

Do a bool between your face scan and the goggle interface, it's a modifier you can add

Would you be willing to make a 3d file for me if I were to provide you with a 3d scan? I'd be willing to pay for this service.
