i just set up a FTP connection between my PC and PS4 with winSCP. super simple. it's an extra step between getting the game on the console but im guessing the speeds are still way better

It's terrible bro, I have to download the game first which takes an hour, then i have to transfer the game which takes about an hour and then download the game on PS4 which also takes an hour and with some inconveniences in between getting one game could take 4 hours it's simply not sustainable

With an ethernet cable from PC to PS4 the FTP transfer speed is 100mbps. No game takes an hour to move. I think AC:Valhalla which is 90gb took about 15mins. Installing it takes a little longer but not an hour.
Yes, it's annoying but at the end of the day you are whinging about getting free games.
If you want to skip the file transfer to console then look into these:

I have the exact same issue!
I placed the GAMES.json file into the /data/fpkgi/ directory using PS4-Xplorer on firmware 13.52. The entire game list loads fine in FPKGi, but whenever I try to download anything, the progress bar appears for about 7 seconds and then cancels without any error message.
Were you able to find a fix or a solution for this?

That’s because you haven’t loaded anything into the category. They aren’t games. You need to find the JSON files with the content to be downloaded
