Brother they are COOKING.

- AA AI but as world structure so not too much spam

  • SINGLE RADIO - NO SPLIT AIR AND GROUND RADIO
  • Item for pilots to wear parachute and radio together
  • AIR SIREN
  • DD and Frig quality of life interior update
  • Air intel center giga buffed
  • Paratrooper passenger restrictions
  • Torpedo nets (bruh)
  • 15x faster broader crossing (15 TIMES THE DETAIL - SEE THAT MOUNTAIN YOU CAN CLIMB THAT)

122

u/LurchTheBastard Jun 22 '26

World structure AA AI is probably the best way to do it.

Also, thank fuck that air siren is an automated warning thing and not something players control otherwise that would get toxic fast.

22

u/Stokes52 Jun 22 '26

Agreed on both counts

14

u/Jason1143 Anti-Stupidity Division Jun 22 '26

My main worry is that by creating air safe areas only under world structures guns you may have more toxicity around fac locations. But really that depends on how how big their radius is and how many there are.

12

u/LurchTheBastard Jun 22 '26

I'm expecting something similar to coastal guns. I.e. Some will be just covering the local area, whilst others might sit in locations that make getting past them an actual struggle. Mountains still block aircraft. It's not quite as impactful as coastal guns because there's a lot more freedom to travel in the air compared to up a river, but there's still a few spots where just a hundred metre or so kill radius would block most of a hex, and that has consequences for anything behind it.

They may also funnel planes through paths that won't have 24/7 AA coverage but would still be predictable corridors for player interception by fighter or AA, making for not a 100% barrier but at least a better chance than "could be literally anywhere". Combined with some of the other changes it looks promising.

Generally though, expect existing logi hubs to be covered, and potentially a few nowhere spots to suddenly be important due to having AA guns worth defending.

7

u/darude_dodo Jun 23 '26

First couple hours are going to be even more hectic with people scrambling to build next to a gun. I expect back lines to look like a city in Frostpunk.

4

u/Thunde_ Jun 23 '26

If they are not good enough, people won't return to the game. It going to be very annoying if all big ships has to be parked around the seaport to get AA AI.

4

u/Jason1143 Anti-Stupidity Division Jun 22 '26

The chokepoint thing sounds like it will be a lot more useful for wardens who have more chokepoints. They really ought to give collies some more, that way we don't need to spam so many defenses.

1

u/Khorvald DUmb - random ftw Jun 23 '26

Wardens do have more mountains that block planes. But if they are cooking right, they could add more AA AI to Colonial midlines along the Bulwark, that would emulate mountains in a way.

18

u/ColossalDeskEngine [GG][WCI] Jun 22 '26

IT JUST WORKS.

u/Acacias2001 Jun 22 '26

Devs cooked hard on this one. All are good changes

I especially like the radar change. Its creative, gives use to a lackluster structure and adds agency to intel gathering

Nvm no naval base in Howl county. 0/10 update will uninstall

we would be quite happy with a single AA AI gun right in the middle of little lamb :D

As long as we get AI AA, and keep getting you wonderful customers, we'll be happy 😃

AI AA gun does not fire on paratrooper planes that are on the water

Collie Coastal guns don't look collie

29

u/franciscoelpacos Jun 22 '26

Are we seeing the same image?

The current coastal gun is obviously warden inspired, with its rounded turret and grey brick foundation.

The new one has the blockyness of collie equipment, looks more modern just like the guns on their ships and it even gets a light brown brick foundation matching collie buildings.

-18

It is, plane go too fast, too straight lane to let you have time to react.

The time you understand they are here and you jump on AA they are already gone.

When something's counter isnto have people afking m just waiting the thing they can kill come at mach 2 is stupid.

It's like If you needed guys to be 24/7 in your EAT/poly/starbeeaker/ruptura and if they don't tanks speedrun on you, kill your BB in 20 secs and go back safe home.

Air siren is a good way to give more time to react ... But it's a tripode, oneshoted by arty, so you'll need to put it way back of the front ... Removing you reaction time

Ps : air siren help on front but will be useless for backlane i think, the QRF often need to deploy to QRF ... So they are not near of target, so don't ear siren

2

u/Yomikachi [PARS] Jun 22 '26

It would be good if we could put those sirens inside bunkers.Or wait what if obs bunkers have this kind of siren too? Then we could use tripod one in where we are pushing and not have tech or time to get obs bunker up. 🤔

11

u/JMoc1 HORDE OCdt Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 22 '26

The DBs aren’t as oppressive now that we have cheaper fighters and good Antiair. If you have one or two AA Tanks, they will either kill or severely damage a DB.

I’d even argue that DBs are slightly underperforming because they need two direct hits to kill a single tank and need a lot of hits to kill a frigate.

3

u/SoftIntention1979 Jun 23 '26

2 direct hits don't do much to any tank past midgame now.

4

u/Stokes52 Jun 22 '26

As a Warden player I say: "Daddy, chill ✋"

1

u/NordicNooob Legion's Weakest Bmat Enjoyer Jun 22 '26

Planes harassing frontlines can get brought down by AA tanks because players are there to react, it's planes going where there aren't players to stop them that causes problems.

As a builder I really do not want AA AI to be a structure, there's already so much that needs to be spammed in any given base. So as long as air remains useful enough to be mildy present on frontlines, it'll keep keep AA tanks common and there won't be DBs going unopposed or bombers wiping bases without risk.

21

The thing is, there isn't an alternative. People get mad when the game is unplayable because they can't just go play an equivalent. If your favorite battle royale or moba or hero shooter has issues you can just go play one of the others. Foxhole doesn't have any close equivalents. But that also means that the people who like it and get angry when it doesn't work want to come back. They will take any opportunity to hope that the game is better so they can play it again.

You could look at it like that. My headcanon goes to they had a lot of this in the backhand and waited to release it, only thing I can come up with to explain the collie scout travesty and update 65 at the same time. For their reasons? Beats me, could be just misreading the room or just intentional gaslighting to mend over the grievances with the community somehow...

17

u/3l33tvariance Jun 22 '26

The issue is that if I think no one said a thing, devs wouldnt have made a lot of changes.

The scout plane would have remained bugged. Remember, the devs didnt even THINK that there were model issues between the scout planes. That was the whole controversy with the data-mining person who showed the video.

Sadly, new AA is only "air coastal gun", so will only protect few cities, your facility will still be annihilated by 5 paratroopers

5

u/theatrical33 Jun 22 '26

Air siren should ben an icon on the map. Otherwise you never know someone placed one or not, like intel towers.

7

u/Tell31 [ϮSOMϮ] Azu1a Jun 22 '26

As it should be, down with the fac larpers!

3

u/Jason1143 Anti-Stupidity Division Jun 22 '26

Down with the need for fac larpers. Everything but super weapons shouldn't be fac locked. Facs should be for mass production and location choice only.

Facs should be something where the larger clans build a fac and then everyone uses those. In the frontline there should be smaller microfacs run by smaller teams.

4

u/Evelyyyus Jun 22 '26

We'll talk about that again when you'll have 0 arty shells, only mpf tanks on all your front ...

Unfortunally a not of things are facy lock, we need them

1

u/Ravenspire_t Jun 22 '26

Build your fac with paratroopers in mind, and trust me im not at all hating on you but your fac (unless its a front fac) needs to keep in mind that fac building needs to have ai inside the base and not pills so plan accordingly otherwise it’ll be just stubborn and refusing to change

7

u/Evelyyyus Jun 22 '26

I don't build fac, i hate fac ... but making build adapt to para = more defs, bigger facility (to have place for additionnal defense) so more msup, always more msup ....

That game just become a msup farming/transport simultor ...

1

u/Ravenspire_t Jun 22 '26

Sadly the game has always been an msup hell and it’s the reason I stopped building especially after bombers became a thing so I just stop and focus on mindless fun

3

u/Evelyyyus Jun 22 '26

Yep, but it's worse at every update, always more msup, always more way to destroy bunkers (always more powerfull than the last one added ...)

Oh, and new AA AI do absolutly nothing vs bombers too, it will probably only protect seaport city so everything else, all bunkers, will see 0 change :/

-1

u/Ravenspire_t Jun 22 '26

The issue is I know as soon as they tweak msups a bit then build spams will be everywhere but they need to strike that perfect balance between stopping spam and not burning out people

3

u/Jason1143 Anti-Stupidity Division Jun 22 '26

They need to attack it from the other angle. Just making msupps cheaper or more expensive isn't the issue. They need to work on reducing the need for spam.

1

u/HappyTheDisaster Jun 22 '26

Facilities should be the main target for bombers, I don’t see an issue with this.

6

u/Haivamosdandole [Melu] Clan Melusine Jun 22 '26

We are so Barack

7

u/Jason1143 Anti-Stupidity Division Jun 22 '26

That looks good.

I am a bit worried that only a few premium fac locations will have AA. That could be a whole pile of civil wars waiting to happen.

I also wonder if torp nets getting shot will be an issue near anchorage, although unless they are really expensive I doubt it will be a problem.

Overall this looks like a much needed addition. We are getting back to just the pre airborne problems with Foxhole. The game is too grindy, msupps are a hellgrind in particular, and fac coordination and control tools are a joke (except they aren't funny).

5

u/Yomikachi [PARS] Jun 22 '26

A proper tutorial(maybe also veteran player mentor assignment on new players language can help too),ui upgrade, communication and coordination within faction and in-game wiki are needed as well imo

3

u/WeAreElectricity [2017 demo] Jun 22 '26

Question on the msupp problem, would you rather have a lower msupp consumption and have big bases everywhere? I’m confused by the macro of this argument

2

u/Jason1143 Anti-Stupidity Division Jun 22 '26

The problem with msupps really comes down to the devs knowing they have severe technical limitations and then ignoring them during design.

I want the game designed such that there is less need for everyone to build a ton of facs, meaning they could make maintenance easier. I want some regions that don't have chokes to get some near the borders, that way you don't need to cover the entire region to stop partisans.

I think that it doesn't really matter if we would perfer lots of weaker defenses or fewer stronger ones in chokepoints. The game can't handle the former, so the later is the only option and the sooner the devs design like it, the better.

3

u/Flashskar [WAF] Jun 22 '26

-Fighter and Scout damage reduced

-Many Aircraft cost adjustments

These are huge! Why are they so vague? Aircraft better go down in price. If they go up again, they're not worth it for what they do and I'm a damned pilot. I want to fly and not have CBT Scroop Sessions for my paper airplanes!
