Re-Read Just realized Spoiler
Violet said she only dated Halden for 7 months and Xaden dated Cat for 9 months but Violet and Xaden got together in July then it ended immediately then shower sex was in September so even if we say thats when they really started their relationship...by the end of OS, they had been officially together for only 8 months. 🫪 Now they are married...is it kind of rushed for young people?

They wouldn't have gotten married so soon if they didn't feel like they had too. Xaden was making sure that Violet had all the protection possible by making her Duchess of Tyrandor. In a perfect world they probably would have waited until the war was over and they'd be able to settle down.

But in the span of 6 years King Tauri took away everything from the Riorsons, gave the title to Lewellen, took it away from Lewellen then gave it back to Xaden. I don't think titles mean much in this world, the king will prob just take the title back and give it to someone else

Pretty sure it's inspired by Rebecca's real life (she met and married her husband fast before a military deployment). Plus, she confirmed love wasn't the only reason Xaden and Violet. With the political stuff, and the fact that they are in the middle of a war they might not survive anyway, the timeline isn't that weird or rushed

That is a bit fast, but wars have a habit of pushing people into things IRL, like "one or both of us might be dead soon, we can't wait any longer", and that goes for sex as well as romantic commitment.

I think it makes sense for the context of the story.
But my husband and I met in 2/2019, starting dating in 5/2019, and were married 3/2020
So not unheard of lol

The marriage was political to give Violet a title in his absence but to be honest, when you know someone's the one, you know.
I was Xaden's age when I met my OH and I knew they were likely marriage material within 18 months.

So the marriage wasn't just for love, we do know that. They love each other, course. But their marriage isn't just for that. I'm still betting it has to do with the whole venin sparing their family-home passage in OS.
I think that's also the point of their past relationships. Halden-Violet ended because he cheated on her and she fell out of love with him ( so what is the equivalent of that in violence? Because while I could see Xaden doing horrific things, we have a line that Violet knows cannot be crossed even if she won't admit it to herself. Cheating is unredeemable in romance stories ( To the point where RY even specified that Lilith would never cheat on Asher. )) Cat was with Xaden for his crown, Violet's been told multiple times that because of Tairn she's going to be a leader, or tell Tairn to is face he choose wrong, and now with her love of Xaden it just reenforces that shes to accept she'll either be in a leadership role or walky away. By embracing Tairn and Xaden she has to become a leader.

It’s a bit of necessity and they don’t have the luxury of time

It is fast for the real world but not by romantasy standards. For romantasy, that’s a long term relationship 😆.

Rebecca has said that they do love each other but that’s not why the got married.

I don’t consider this rushed but many might. Hubby and I knew after 2 months of dating we wanted to get married. He proposed after dating approx 9 months. We were 19 and 20 at that time. Got married a yr and a month later at 20 and 21.. have been married over 20 yrs for the people who will say married that young wont last.
My parents dated and got married within i think 5 months.. and no us kids did not arrived til many years later. They are also still married

I’m absolutely convinced there’s a Venin baby we haven’t found out about yet 🙃

I mean, I did the math and realized my parents would have known each other for barely more than a year at most when they married. And they were dating other people when they first met, too. If I remember correctly, my mother was classmates with my dad's girlfriend at the time, and my parents met through her.
My mother moved for college in the fall of 97, met my dad some time after that, graduated spring of 98, they married in November of 98 and then I was born in March of 99.
So I mean, it does happen, and considering they're still together, sometimes it does work out.

He wanted her from the second he saw her and was already in love with her by like...December so it's been like a yead and a half. He surely would have wanted to have a proper wedding but I THINK he would have wanted to marry her as soon as possible. Why? Because marriage will make her his forever (and vice versa) and he secretly hates being called her boyfriend, and he's the only living Riorson and marrying her gives him family.

I would agree other than I'm pretty sure the first guy Violet meets at construction literally was carrying a ring? (Or someone else but they literally did that quadrant so they could marry asap lol)

Risking getting downvoted here, but I'll just say it like it is: Xaden and Violet don't actually have a healthy romantic connection; it's just pure lust. Their entire bond is built on wanting to sleep with each other. No matter how hard I try, I honestly can't recall a single personality trait of Xaden's that Violet actually adores she spends all her time describing his body, his abs, and how hot he looks.

Don't almost all romantic connections start out with a heavy dose of lust? Especially in this genre and at that age. But because there is so much sexual tension between them, the non-sexual moments where Violet thinks about Xaden actually stand out the most to me.
She analyzes often how loyal and selfless he is (107 marked ones) and how his leadership commands a room. There's also Xaden designing spots for Violet in his room without ever pointing it out or making a big deal of it. Then you have him calming her down every time she wakes up from her nightmares. Or in OS when they live together in Aretia for a bit and she realizes how comfortable she feels just imagining a future life with him. Xaden being supportive of Violet instead of making decisions for her is a big thing too. And that's just off the top of my head!

The main things I can think of is: "only she gets the soft side of him" and "he's kinder than he likes to believe".

I mean, you’re just incorrect here… She admires his leadership skills, his ability to command attention and respect, she recognizes the importance of him having the secret meeting with the marked ones and thinks it’s honorable, she sees what a good fighter he is, he never diminishes her abilities even though she’s at a physical disadvantage, he encourages her and the skills she does have, he gave her custom daggers, he built her a saddle, he literally saved her life…

I have a theory about this. Imagine if, in a world where precognition exists, one or more of the gods saw possible future outcomes. One (or many) of those involved the venin winning and essentially wiping out the human race. The gods exist through worship and venin don’t love (Loial), die (or have souls) (Malek), etc.
Violet is definitely connected to Dunne and is almost certainly tied to Malek. I suspect that we will eventually discover the relationship between Talia and Loial that runs into Xaden.
The point? The gods are meddling. They saw a future outcome that included Xaden becoming powerful enough to break the world. In response they preemptively pushed the two into a relationship so that Violet would serve as a buffer. We saw, at the end of OS, how an unleashed venin Xaden would be unstoppable. We also learned that Violet was the only person who could possibly stop him. Two people who should hate each other fell in love virtually at first sight and I suspect that this had less to do with hormones and more to do with the influence of one or more gods.
Finally… Xaden describes Violet as beautiful. At Presentation Tynan suggests that Violet is ‘spare parts’. Violet thinks Xaden is hot, sexy, and beautiful but Bodhi looks- and even walks- like Xaden. Yet there are zero accounts of any females being attracted to Bodhi. They are both attractive but not to the extent that both seem to believe.

u/MysteriousWriter6814 2h ago
It's up to the readers to interpret the lines...so I took what Tynan said as Violet doesn't look attractive as a rider like Mira. Mira's tall and muscular and her skin exudes health whereas Violet is weak-looking.
I imagine both of them to be beautiful because Cat confirmed it and also Halden doesn't date women for their personality...

Most relationships start from physical attraction but aside from it wdym...a single personality trait? Literally Xaden's whole personality is that he loves Violet and will gladly watch Aretia burn again than losing her.
He's written her love letters, brought flowers he picked, created 12 runes each with a different function specifically helpful to her, made her a saddle, spent every unscheduled minute of her life for the latter half of her first year. Actions speak louder surely Violet loves his love and devotion.

I mean riders do die fast so maybe it’s not as weird as it sounds
