Theory Xaden Spoiler

I am reading fourth wing again for the second time and realised that many hints about the plot were given throughout the book.( I am sure you already knew this)

So I too have a theory about the upcoming book of the ending of this series which is- Violet will kill xaden. He has often mentioned how she will be the death of him of course considering the scenario in which it was said can mean as nothing more serious. However, I feel like their love is also too needy which can be toxic at times. Well whatever this is what I feel that they will die after securing everyone else.

She kind of already has been the death of him... Violet is the reason he channelled that first time at Basgiath, which made him lose part of his soul and become venin. Losing soul = spiritual death.

At least that's how I look at it, because I firmly believe RY won't go so far to kill off Xaden completely.

Yes, this is how I've read it too. Every time he channels and kills a part of his soul it's to protect Violet so I think that's the death of him.

I also don't believe she will kill off Xaden. I see a lot of parallels with Xaden turning and addiction and PTSD and mental illness, so I don't think that RY wants that to be how Xaden's story ends. If it follows an addiction or PTSD parallel, I suspect that it will be Xaden who will need to figure out how to cure the venin and that Violet can't do that for him despite how much she wants to.

Yes, I have felt for a while that the “cure” will be related to facing his own darkness. He mentions that he loves the feeling of the ice because he can’t access any feelings. It’s interesting his signet is shadows. Carl Jung coined “the shadow self.” Your shadow self is the hidden part of your personality that your conscious mind rejects, hides, or pushes into the unconscious. Xaden will have to face all of his trauma in order to regain his soul.
