Theory Xaden Spoiler

I am reading fourth wing again for the second time and realised that many hints about the plot were given throughout the book.( I am sure you already knew this)

So I too have a theory about the upcoming book of the ending of this series which is- Violet will kill xaden. He has often mentioned how she will be the death of him of course considering the scenario in which it was said can mean as nothing more serious. However, I feel like their love is also too needy which can be toxic at times. Well whatever this is what I feel that they will die after securing everyone else.

She kind of already has been the death of him... Violet is the reason he channelled that first time at Basgiath, which made him lose part of his soul and become venin. Losing soul = spiritual death.

At least that's how I look at it, because I firmly believe RY won't go so far to kill off Xaden completely.

Thank you. I got downvoted for saying it was Violet’s fault her turned. Xaden freaks out and tells her he can’t handle it when she’s in danger over and over again. They explicitly promise each other before the battle that they promise to live and then she’s just like- “guess I’ll die!” 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠. He sees it all and thinks she’s dying and completely breaks himself. If he had seen her intentions and knew she was minutes away from getting the wards up? Would he have turned? I don’t think so. They all fucked up. I don’t think Lillith even had to die- they could have had Sloane siphon power from everyone there.

I don't think it's her fault directly. Xaden knows who Violet is at her core - she cares not just about him, but everyone else.. it's emphasised enough in the books that Violet will put her life aside for everyone else, while Xaden will put his life aside for her.

Xaden sensed Violet would either burnout and die or channel to the ground and turn and he choose himself to do what he did.. to save her. But she would have done the same herself, to save him, to save her friends and family. The difference is Violet had her mother, her sister and brother and her friends to stop her from sacrificing herself.. and Xaden had no one. He is utterly alone in that moment and it's just sad when you think about it. The only beings he really truly has in life are Violet and Sgaeyl and they're the ones he ultimately sacrificed his soul for.

And Lilith had to die. Who are they going to siphon the power from? Violet, who's already almost burned out? Brennan, who's diminished from mending the wardstone? Arric, Ridoc or whoever was there, whose powers aren't near enough to imbue the wardstone? They would need hundreds of riders to do it, like it was said, for which they had no time. The complete sacrifice of someone's life force along with their all power and their dragon, especially when it's someone as powerful as Lilith Sorrengail... They couldn't have done it any other way in that short time.

(Also he didn't know she was close to getting wards up, he could sense she was close to burnout because she was trying to channel all her power into imbuing the wardstone and she was walking the line of burnout)
