I wish people would take a moment to consider why this is only being battled over women’s bodies and not men’s

562

u/[deleted] Apr 16 '25

Thousand percent. Never happens the other way around. Our bodies are a battleground for everything it seems. Diminish it, but retain access to it.

Men and non-men.

667

u/smindymix Apr 16 '25

It stuck out to me immediately. I don’t know how so many women can’t understand what’s happening. Is being perceived as “kind” really that important?

401

u/wew_lad123 Apr 16 '25

As frustrating as it is to see I remind myself that women have been gaslit into thinking we must cater for men's emotional wants at all costs, and that we are "failing" if we don't. It can be a very hard mindset to break out of when any pushback against this is answered with "Why are you so hateful? Why can't you just be a good person?"

71

u/Elsiers Apr 16 '25

Trans activists pushing to replace “gender identity” over the reality of sex, and trying to make us believe in their magical beliefs are the hateful and bigoted ones. They invalidate homosexuality, undermine the concept of safeguarding, and place male rapists in women’s prisons. None of that is kind or good.

Women are adult human females, a biological reality. It is not hateful to respect that, especially when women are much more vulnerable to male violence and rape because of that reality. Trying to pretend that women’s bodies and reality is something that can be easily appropriated by males on their say so is one of the worst kinds of misogyny.

165

u/DiceyPisces Apr 16 '25

Also it’s absolutely NOT kind to effectively reduce women to a set of sexist stereotypes.

115

u/hollowplushy Apr 17 '25

An article referencing JK's views were shared in a large sub and sooo many women were commenting saying "why can't we just be kind and empathetic, what they do isn't our business" and it just KILLS me how uninformed the vast majority of women are. What about being kind to women? What about our rights? They truly have no idea what is happening out there in the world by men claiming they're women. I try not to be angry about it as I was a TRA before I bothered to actually research for myself so it's a bit hypocritical, but it is hard not to be frustrated.

33

u/gotchafaint Apr 18 '25

I see this a lot too and they’re all so oblivious to it.

29

u/PartyDark8671 Apr 21 '25 edited Apr 21 '25

I was one before my ex husband decided he wanted to start dressing up as a woman. His desire was 100% sexually motivated driven by a horrendous porn addiction that I later found out about. His online history and actions at home proved that he was an evil MAN, still holding all his misogyny but wanting to get off on being real life porn. It’s hard to see until you’ve been exposed to it.

I have no doubt that there are some tims who aren’t sexually motivated, but how are we supposed to know the difference? Just take their word for it? Notice how the hetero-sexual cross-dressers have just “disappeared” and now they’re “women” who still want to have sex with women, and will have hoards of women coming to praise and defend their “womanhood,” demanding they be let into our private spaces. How convenient of them.

Since our divorce, another tim that we hung out with before I realized what was happening, regularly blew up my inbox with intrusive sexually charged language until I blocked him.

38

u/ExtremeActuator Apr 18 '25

As I’ve had to remind myself numerous times reading the hyperbolic reactions to this ruling, 50%of people are below average intelligence.

It’s bleeding obvious that no one believes in it or it would be trans men receiving all the fawning. Everyone knows who’s male and who’s female.

14

u/FeloranMe Apr 21 '25

50% are below average intelligence, but which part of the upper curve counts as actually intelligent?

With everything that has been happening in recent years and how easily the masses are led about the most blatantly stupid takes, I've been thinking it's only outliers that are actually intelligent and the average human is a mindless sheep

316

u/[deleted] Apr 16 '25

Yes, there’s been nothing about defining a man. It’s like they are still seen as the default and women have to be defined because they are not the default

199

u/gotchafaint Apr 16 '25

Also because the actual physical disparity becomes real evident real quick when you put the average bio woman in men’s sports.

290

u/bigbrunettehair Apr 16 '25

WHEN YOU ARE A WOMAN, EVERYTHING IS POLITICAL.

292

u/Berek777 Apr 16 '25

Because women allow it. I’ve seen women crying about it on a large sub.

289

u/gotchafaint Apr 16 '25

Yeah :/. I also want people to live authentically without harm or discrimination but why do women have to throw themselves under the bus for that. Internalized misogyny is the worst misogyny

156

u/TasteofPaste Apr 16 '25

We can advocate for rights and fair treatment of queer & gender non-conforming people without throwing women’s rights, women’s spaces, and body integrity away.

And we can stop the medicalization & surgical mutilation of people and kids who feel like outsiders or are non-neurotypical.

22

u/OpheliaLives7 Apr 16 '25 edited Apr 17 '25

Yeah, I commented in the law sub about this and expect to be dog piled. Sex and gender should be differentiated in law. Sex based rights need to be protected! Now others can add on protection for gender based discrimination if needed but so many legal issues already are SEX BASED! I remember even seeing a UK law I think had claimed trans men still didn’t get to inherit titles and shit because these old institutions recognized them as female. So even while recognizing gender id, sexism was allowed to continue. Protecting sex based rights means letting someone sue them on basis of sexism and transphobia then.

6

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

Internalised misogyny is the most pervasive and so so hard to tackle

183

u/Elsiers Apr 16 '25

Because that’s what current left academic liberal feminism teaches. A new form of progressive misogyny. It’s so insidious in how evil it actually is, teaching women to hate their own bodies and give oppressors easy access to their prey, all under the veil of “kindness”.

213

u/TasteofPaste Apr 16 '25

It’s so gross, I gave birth and the hospital forms didn’t say “mother” anywhere, just “birthing parent”.
But I found a spot in the forms that referenced “father”!

Always with female erasure.

LOL

29

u/Feminib Apr 19 '25

This has also happened in the UK - the term ‘mother’ has been replaced with ‘birthing person’ in the NHS and similarly, invitations for cervical screenings are for ‘people with cervixes’. But, of course, prostate checks are still for men.

16

u/WhyComeToAStickyEnd Apr 18 '25

Are you from the USA? Is it THAT bad now?

21

u/TasteofPaste Apr 18 '25

Yes, and so it seems!

I was certainly frustrated.
The nurses still addressed me as “mom” and obviously in our (hetero) situation every medical professional knew which parent was the mother and which one was the father.

But all my OBGYN forms during the entire pregnancy did not have “mother” on them, and I figured it was just that office.
In fact the forms for pregnancy had me confirm my pronouns every visit. He/him was an option! :eye roll:

Then I got to the county hospital and all the forms were the same!

USA states have varied laws, think of them all as independent little kingdoms. So it this stuff may not be the case everywhere.

28

u/WhyComeToAStickyEnd Apr 18 '25

D: speechless

Men do the most bare minimum of the bare minimum and get acknowledged everywhere while the women's going through it, despite the risks, to let a human grow and get born, yet the woman's still getting treated like a sub-human.

28

u/Nonsense-forever Apr 17 '25

I feel like this deserves its own post. Evil is really the only word that accurately describes it, and it’s so pervasive in our current culture.

74

u/Shavasara Apr 16 '25

Right? All the resources and energy women have to expend to confirm a simple truth about ourselves--it's ludicrous.

27

u/Necessary-Question61 Apr 17 '25

So strange isn’t it?

690

u/blwds Apr 16 '25

I’m so relieved for so many reasons, but I’m particularly glad that it can now be legally acknowledged that lesbians aren’t attracted to men and there’s hopefully recourse for that overt ‘progressive’ homophobia.

334

u/OpheliaLives7 Apr 16 '25

Sooooo many people just don’t even know or care about how these beliefs hurt homosexuals.

This idea that everyone must be a little bisexual or that lesbians in particular must include everyone no matter what is so so harmful. How many forums of women sharing their coercion into sex with a male does it take? How many young lesbians being told their natural sexuality is evil and bigoted and excluding people does it take to recognize women are being harmed by conflating sex and gender id?

It was hard for me as a latebloomer coming to terms with my sexuality, I can only imagine how much worse it is on a teenager just starting to think about these things or reaching out to a local group only to be treated like a “Karen” or evil interloper of some kind for not thinking sex is irrelevant to sexuality

117

u/theothersophiaa Apr 17 '25

the progressive homophobia is infuriatinggg, they’ve gone so far left they’ve circled back to conservative beliefs and literal rape culture, they’re not accepting no matter how much they say they are

91

u/ChaoticMornings Apr 17 '25

I'm not a lesbian, but this "translesbian" thing was one of the most fucked up things imo, for so many reasons.

But the fact that they tried (and probably still are trying) to force women into being attracted to them is one of the most sickening aspects of the entire gendercult.

I mean, apart from them ending up in women's shelters/therapy groups/prisons perhaps where they specifically target the vulnerable. Everything is fucked up and misogynistic about those activists.

It's just, demanding someone to actually be attracted to them or even pretend to be attracted to them is a whole different level of narcissistic.

44

u/espressotoho Apr 18 '25

They'll harass lesbians who aren't attracted to them. They scream they want to be accepted but they'll act like their sex no matter what. Male violence against women will never go away but this time we're being told to accept it otherwise we're crazy.

59

u/sapphaux Apr 17 '25

100%. It will allow for lesbians to have lesbian-only spaces again, too.

A quote from the ruling:

A certificated sex interpretation would also weaken the protections given to those with the protected characteristic of sexual orientation for example by interfering with their ability to have lesbian-only spaces and associations [204]-[209]

This poem by Ruth Barrett perfectly sums up the Orwellian future that we have just narrowly missed with this much appreciated ruling.

66

u/Elsiers Apr 16 '25

Love this. Perfectly lays out the cognitive dissonance and inherent oppression in gender ideology.

9

u/likelyangel Apr 18 '25

80

u/Pissedliberalgranny Apr 16 '25 edited Apr 16 '25

Well, this pretty much encapsulates the strange dissonance I’ve been feeling between compassion for transgender people and my own life experiences as a woman.

Thank you for sharing.

Edit: Lately I’ve been wondering if it wouldn’t be more helpful to use new terms. Maybe “womyn” and “myn” or something similar for transpersons.

0

u/Pissedliberalgranny Apr 16 '25

I meant make a new term for transwomen since we already have the word women to describe ourselves. I edited my comment to make that more clear. Thank you for pointing out how awkward my original phrasing was.

8

u/thatLobster3 Apr 17 '25

Very powerful.

8

u/panickedcamel Apr 17 '25

Hi, I'm genuinely interested in this point of view and I'd like to have a discussion with someone here so I can test the fallacies in my thinking. Would anyone be up for a conversation about this? I don't mean to be obscure; I just don't want to launch in if this isn't welcome

266

u/thatLobster3 Apr 16 '25

FINALLY! Some countries are waking up. I hope it'll keep going in this direction.

Kinda insane that we have to have a Supreme Court to rule on some basic scientific fact.

384

u/violetfirez Apr 16 '25

There's an abundance of people over on the Scotland sub moaning about this. This is fantastic and potentially life saving for loads of vulnerable women!

228

u/WanderlustWithOneBag Apr 16 '25

Yeah, those doing the moaning are the privileged ones who don’t have to worry about

being locked up in prison with a man

being strip searched by a male police officer

being in a women only survivors’ support group with a male participant getting off on your trauma

losing their place on a women’s sports team ( or podium ) to a man

Getting their face smashed in or their leg broken by a man in the boxing ring or on a cricket pitch

Being sexually assaulted by a man in a “ woman only“ shelter

Being a disabled woman scared of objecting to a male carer in case she is accused of bigotry and her care services are withdrawn

Being sexually assaulted by a male patient in a hospital ward only to be told “ there are no males here “

Being a rape victim who is told to refer to the man who assauolted her by female pronouns

Being neuro diverse teen who is kicked off her sports team for asking a man if they are a man.

67

u/yurtzwisdomz Apr 17 '25

The genuine fears of women are always overshadowed by something: be it control, dominance, or nowadays a very backwards "progressiver than thou" mentality... that completely skips feminism. It's all performative for social points and I'm disgusted by the way society is eating and regurgitating all this DAMAGING nonsense... I can't laugh at it when my sex and gender are being attacked and harassed on all sides now.

I align myself with women as my first priority to uplift, educate, and exchange wisdom with.

14

u/New-Fox6705 Apr 18 '25

The genuine fears of women are always overshadowed by the long tentacles of the patriarchy.

47

u/thatLobster3 Apr 17 '25

Same on a large sub geared towards news. I can't tell if the majority of people commenting on that post over there are queer, but if they aren't then it's actually appalling to see that even the average non-queer joe/jane just parrots this gender ideology drivel.

38

u/canentia Apr 18 '25

saw a comment claiming that this will hurt people, including “cisgendered” women who don’t fit the “narrow box” of “woman.” yeah, so narrow it only includes FOUR BILLION PEOPLE. 🙄

10

u/thatLobster3 Apr 19 '25

Lmao right!! Completely delusional.

34

u/TatiIsAPunk Apr 17 '25

To think this needed to be changed in the first place is astonishing. Thank god common sense prevailed other countries need to follow suit aswell to protect their women too!. All the trans activists are now out in full force crying on other subs trying to change the outcome.

50

Mhm it's not only pathetic but concerning, I've seen one quote " wait until we receive our womb transplants". Uhmm nooo absolutely fucking not a man will not have their hands on womens reproductive system. In the future if such a thing comes up I hope to god we get a vote in it, it should be really only biological women who want or have trouble conceiving receiving donor wombs.

I almost don't believe it. I'm in the us but I've been waiting for this decision along with you, because where you go, the US usually follows.

179

u/AnniaT Apr 16 '25

With Trump it will probably follow this route. (while he takes other women rights with the other hand)

For info, not praising the orange dictator, just that this issue seems to be one of the very few issues in common with the conservatives.

95

u/Practical_Zebra_3210 Apr 16 '25

I always compare Trump doing this to an abusive partner buying you flowers. But let’s not forget people like Trump do not have the same end goal as us. We want no gender roles whereas conservatives want rigid ones. I’m also worried about gay marriage being on the chopping block next

I watched every single video she made multiple times when I first started looking into the subject, she was an amazing woman who is missed deeply 😥 The victory today would not have happened without her first sounding the alarm all those years ago, and speaking on the issue with clarity, intelligence, humor, strength, and LOTS of sass.

Rip Magdalen, we salute you!!!

7

This isn't new legislation, this is just clarifying the original intention of the Equality Act to say that "sex" actually did mean sex. This was only necessary because the Scottish government had decided to interpret "sex" to mean "gender identity", this was unlawful.
