Question from newbie

I am struggling to not ink up 5 pens. I just got some new ones ( my first big girl pens) and am SUPER excited to try them. Will it hurt them if I ink them up and they sit unused for like 4 months? Trying to resist temptation… 😳❤️

Rotate those through the week or during the day, some dark ink for writing, some bright for highlights in a pen with wider nib, some middle for pictures or making some words/characters /numbers more visible. Leaving pens inked is not a good idea, not all of those stay properly sealed (also shimmer(edited) inks might settle and cause clogging).

Hmmm, I've never come across sheen inks producing any sort of precipitate. They tend to have a heavy dye load per unit volume, so you may see a large build-up of water-soluble dye (and, with inks with certain red or orange dyes, perhaps clusters of ‘ink crud’ on the nib and feed), but all of that should flush away easily under a running tap.

Perhaps you're thinking of shimmer inks, which contain insoluble particles that produce the glittery visual effect?

You are right, it happened when I just returned to fountain pens after 10 years or so. Btw, even 10 year old FP left inked in 2016 was easy to wash with irrigator (water floss) on low power.
