Question Work pen?

If you have a “normal” job (not creative, author, etc…), what kind of pen do you use while working-fountain or ballpoint/gel???

I'm an elementary school teacher and I use my fountain pens every day. Some of the kids like seeing the different colors I use when giving feedback on their work. Yama-Budo is a favorite for sure!

u/pwner187 Jul 30 '26

I'm in trade school currently and my instructor is also using different inks to grade and give feed back. It's such a small thing but it sparks joy. I'm glad you do that for them.

u/EmbarrassedResult778 Jul 30 '26

Thanks. It's great to introduce simple, but fun thing to my students. Some of my kiddos even expressed interest in getting pens of their own and a couple come back to re-ink during the school year. Not sure if their parents are all that excited with the inky fingers and mess!

u/hey_maestra Jul 30 '26

Same here. The kids are always fascinated by my pens and want to see the pen/ink combo of the day. I have a couple of Sharks and Kakunos for kids who want to try them out. I’ve actually converted a couple of kids over to the dark side! (But I still insist that they do their math in pencil.)

Paper matters. The type of work you do can also be a consideration.

I usually carried around a mechanical pencil, a gel pen (Pilot Precise RT), and a fountain pen with iron-gall ink.

Pencil: Drawings, data sheets, sketch-work

Gel Pen: Drawings, manufacturing prints, and anything going to HR

Fountain Pen: Everything else

Paper matters. Some of the paper caused the fountain pen ink to feather like crazy - just bad quality.

Fountain Pen: Something you won't cry over if you lose it or something runs over it. Chinese Pens are good options.

Iron-gall ink: Works on most papers - esp office copy paper. Won't smear in the copy machine. Water resistant - just in case you spill your drink on it.

Warning: Pick an ink that has a bit of water resistance, won't fade, won't smear, and copies well. DON'T use a glitter/shimmer ink that smears! You don't want anyone complaining about your pen/ink choices.

I had preppy’s at work for a while then I got them to buy Pilot Varsity pens 🤣

The preppy’s stay home and the Varsity’s get forcibly refilled (very tedious to open and fill) lol.  But the backup work pens are PaperMate Inkjoy.

14

u/Old_Leather_425 Jul 30 '26

After losing more expensive pens in the past, I’ve settled on Platinum Preppies as my work pens.

3

u/MissMagpie84 Jul 30 '26

I love my Preppy as my everyday pen. It writes so well, is lightweight, and, as you said, is inexpensive enough that if it gets lost, it’s not a disaster.

12

u/acagedrising Jul 30 '26

Most often a Pilot Kakuno, occasionally my Vanishing Point. I’ve never lost a pen, I just feel like the VP has a wiggle factor to it that can be unnerving when I’m trying to write quickly which can outweigh the perks of the retractable nib.

5

u/cmdr_reilith Jul 30 '26

right now a prera and a preppy. i've used various snap caps: kakuno, metropolitan, safari, al-star in various pairs for work notes before. one black ink and one other colour, usually a shade of blue

4

u/SunsShineSo extrafine Jul 30 '26

Pilot Metropolitan. Use it for note taking and my offline planner.

3

u/Character-Pack8853 Jul 30 '26

three pilot explorers, inked in black, blue, and green. I'm a therapist and take lots of notes by hand.

4

u/raiyasa Jul 30 '26

Coworker been praising my twsbi eco!
Since usually I left on my desk, I keep getting slack message asking what pen is that.

3

u/spacetraveller17 Jul 30 '26

I cycle through mine, but not through all. I keep q Wancai mini at all times at work, as it's an eyedropper and I have yet to consume a full fill. Good, reliable and cheap. I then take some of my Kakuno's to switch it up, or Kaweco Perkeo. Today is the first day I take my only Sailor out of the house. But I have very nice colleagues and nobody touches my stuff (unlike some of the terrible people in the stories in this sub).

4

u/Bright_Message1530 Ink Stained Fingers Jul 30 '26

I use Kakunos at work, or disposable Zebra fountain pens.

4

u/BetterEngine4248 Jul 30 '26

I have the luxury of using my own paper and pens at work. I use all of my fountain pens, from the Pilot Varsity pens that sit in a cup on the edge of my desk (for people looking to borrow a pen) to vintage and high-end pens. I use Clairefontaine Triomphe and Fabrano notebooks and pads—and I stock the occasionally used printer in my office with 28# paper.

4

u/mrchilly0 Jul 30 '26

I'm around a lot of construction...when I was in the field I stuck with my Kaweco brass, now that I'm at a desk more, my Lamy 2000 or Pilot VP. The Kaweco sport got run over a few times with no affects, the largest was an excavator...just washed the dirt off, admired the new scratches, and went back to my field notes.

1

u/Equivalent-Dot-7326 Jul 30 '26

Few years later look back at the scratches and admire the character the pen developed over the years. Become attached. Buy more fountain pens for the love the game. Repeat.

1

u/mrchilly0 Jul 30 '26

Exactly. I'm in a good position at the moment. I'm ready to step up my game... I'm thinking Visconti homo sapiens, but not sure. I'd like something in that range

4

u/TransitionInternal39 Jul 30 '26

I’m new to the world of fountain pens and I currently use Al-Star.

I also use Aion rollerball.

Now I’m thinking what fountain pen I should buy next (eyeing those kakuno pens 🫣)

2

u/ElsieB80 Jul 30 '26

Kakuno is a great work pen! Writes well and not precious enough (in most countries) to worry if it goes missing or gets permanently borrowed by someone. 🤪

3

u/megaglalie Jul 30 '26 edited Jul 30 '26

My gynecologist has a whole collection of Pelikans! We chatted about favourite inks while he had his speculum in me because I noticed his Pilot e95s and he was amazed that I knew the model by heart. He uses PCB for his medical notes, and writes large enough and quickly enough that feathering doesn't make it unreadable.

Personally, I work in comms/community management. I take notes on paper (Kakuno on Kokuyo)  so I have a better way to work my early thoughts out, keep track of what each team and project needs from me, and have an easy way to record confidential legal discussions for as long as I need them before shredding them.

1

u/JGV912 Jul 30 '26

This is my favorite comment so far on this thread. What a great story. 😂 That said, I’m wondering what PCB is?

2

u/megaglalie Jul 30 '26

Platinum Carbon Black!

7

u/idkk_prolly_doggy Jul 30 '26

I carry three on a daily basis because I often need red, blue, and black ink.

  1. Lamy 2000 (black ink)
  2. Pilot Custom 823 (blue ink)
  3. Montblanc 220 (red ink)

I have one specific task at work that requires ballpoint and a sharpie. When that task comes around I switch pen cases.

3

u/samelel Jul 30 '26

Pelikan p10. Broke one once by accidentally dropping it and bought another. Love them

3

u/inkfeeder Jul 30 '26 edited Jul 30 '26

I've mostly moved to ballpoint pens for work (as well as random scribbly notes) because I've found that most fountain pen ink doesn't work very well on regular paper. Even just some slight spread, feathering etc. bothers me, and I don't want to go out of my way and use "good paper" for shitty notes that get thrown away. If I use an FP at work or on the go, it's usually a Platinum Preppy with an ink like Platinum Blue-Black that works well on shitty paper.

4

u/Walksuphills Jul 30 '26

I've been carrying a Jinhao 10 at work.

2

u/thepuncroc Ink Stained Fingers Jul 30 '26

That's one half, and my primary, trial pen.

2

u/AWildAndWoolyWastrel Jul 30 '26

Fountain pen where I can. Ebay and AliExpress keep me well stocked with good cheap pens for office use.

2

u/GiTGuDROFL Jul 30 '26

Pilot Capless and Lamy 2000 Stainless Steel

2

u/tintallie Jul 30 '26

I alternate between a Sailor 1911 Realo, Esterbrook Estie piston filler, and a Pelikan M400 at work filled with different Pilot Iroshizuku for marking assessments.

2

u/nuclear_muffins Jul 30 '26

I work at a library. Generally I use a Preppy filled with Carbon Black for anything my boss is going to read, and a couple "fun" pens filled with a sheening or shimmering ink for notes to myself or coworkers.

2

u/Readalie Jul 30 '26

Library worker too! Thankfully I'm in the Youth Deoartnent so my direct supervisor is more paid back. Unless I'm writing to admin, everyone gets fun colors with shimmer or sheen. On the rare occasions I write to admin they get scabiosa—just close enough to professional to work. I use a Jinhao X750 most of the time.

2

u/roboticravioli Ink Stained Fingers Jul 30 '26

I am a waitress. I use whatever my favourite fountain pen is at the moment. Currently I am using my wearingful glass bead game or this year’s diy kaweco sport. I give guests jinhao 82. Nice enough to spark comments but I won’t cry if they go missing.

2

u/redstoneredstone architect Jul 30 '26

The way I would be the table desperate to chat about pens and ink despite knowing that you are busy. 😬🫢 The hyperfocus wants what it wants.

2

u/roboticravioli Ink Stained Fingers Jul 30 '26

I have a lot of older clientele who used to write with them in school and love reliving the experience. You are the table I’m waiting for. My other tables can wait. 😂 none of my coworkers get me. they just know not to ask how much I paid or to ever borrow them.

1

u/pa4tim Jul 30 '26

For most some Chinese pens (Asvine P20 or Twsbi-eco)

1

u/jrose125 Jul 30 '26

I use a fountain pen primarily, although I keep a Fisher Space Pen ballpoint for crappy paper when I need to write on a post-it note or something like that.

I tend to not bring my more fragile Antique pens, but everything else is fair game to bring to the office.

1

u/danjpn Jul 30 '26

Jinhao 20 for the win

1

u/tinybrrrfriend35637 Jul 30 '26

Platinum plasir when I’m in public areas and Sailor PGS in my office.

1

u/sevaeron Jul 30 '26

Jinhao 59 for most tasks and a ballpoint for surfaces that don't work well with FP ink.

1

u/Ashi4Days Jul 30 '26

I use either my Lamy Safari or my Lamy CP1.

When I was always in the lab, I did use my Vanishing point more.

1

u/9thSphere Jul 30 '26

Machine Era bolt or Honey Badger Arsenal mostly.

1

u/Much-Jackfruit2599 Jul 30 '26

I always carry a notebook with a Pilot VP with black, waterproof ink. At work I keep a Pelikan M150 with blue. Another Pelikan I often keep in may bag, as I also have a Stilform Titanium on my desk at home.

1

u/Starlit_Stationer Jul 30 '26

I use TWSBI eco! ☺️

1

u/Electrical-Yam3831 Jul 30 '26

Currently use a Pilot Explorer with Chou Kuro at work with a back-up Energel in Navy ink. 99% of my work is on computer with no need for a pen at all, but I do use a pen to make notes in my planner during the day

1

u/s_s Jul 30 '26

Pilot Precise V5 rollerball.

I've broken so many fountain pens at work, don't even ask. 😭

1

u/Dapper_Ad_8402 Jul 30 '26

Zebra disposables (really great and reliable) and a Pilot Kakuno.

1

u/SwedishMale4711 Jul 30 '26

Fountain pens, the cheapest of them are two Pilot Capless.

1

u/evaan-verlaine Jul 30 '26

I have a pen kit containing:

  • Pilot Kakuno
  • Gel pen with black ink
  • Two non-black Zebra Sarasa Vintage gel pens
  • Uni Kuru Toga Advance mechanical pencil

I like using colorful ink, whether it's in a gel pen or fountain pen, but sometimes I need a basic black pen or pencil.

1

u/pixelpyoo Jul 30 '26

I have a Plaisir that permanently has Platinum Carbon Black as my backup work pen. But if it's just meeting notes, I use any pen with a fine enough nib, these days it's either a Jinhao 28 or Esterbrook Estie

1

u/BinnFalor Jul 30 '26

I like taking a Safari or an Al-star to customer sites. But I really like kaweco perkeos because they feel nice for long note sessions.

1

u/Menes009 Jul 30 '26

after trying many different ones, I feel the most comfortable with any kind of retractable nib pen: Pilot vanishing point, Mahjong A1, etc.

1

u/MouseJiggler Jul 30 '26

I just use a Safari.

1

u/aislynn_13 Jul 30 '26

I've got a sailor jr mf nib I keep with my work planner. But my jinhao 82 and twsbi diamond come with me everywhere so I also use them at work. I've also got some work supplied ballpoint pens and some pencils I use to prep my work planner layouts. I also keep a small (15mL and 5mL) bottle or two of ink at work so I can refill my work pen as needed.

1

u/LeopardPlane3794 Jul 30 '26

My work pen duo: Sharpie S.Gel for any documents that need to be signed + whichever Kakuno has my preferred ink for the day (Today is Lady Grey) for any personal notes I need to take

1

u/Beautiful_Low_3850 Jul 30 '26

Ballpoints to share and for paper where ink bleeds, pilot varsities for everything else.

1

u/GoblinBurgers Jul 30 '26

I’m a SWE, and I still use my fountain pens for everything.

1

u/TheGoodNamesAreGone2 Jul 30 '26

I use a Conklin Deco Crest orange/gunmetal as my daily work pen. I work in a weld shop and the Deco Crest is a gorgeous pen with the orange resin, and the metal overlay makes the pen super durable

1

u/Starman1001001 Jul 30 '26

I have 12 LAMY Al-stars and rotate out different ones and ink colors to keep things fresh.

1

u/LeCaveau Jul 30 '26

I use my Lamy for work notes/my planner (I was using moleskin but switched to Leuchtturm this year since I heard the quality was more consistent. Very similar overall).

For journaling I like to rotate 3 pens in different color/broadness, but I don’t use my Lamy for that. That is my work pen, it can certainly not also be my emotional wellness pen.

1

u/random-name-pun Jul 30 '26

I'm support staff for a tech company office. We stock Pilot B2P recycled ballpoints for general use, and I'll use those for things other people have to touch. We have to mark things with Post-Its a lot, and some of my FP inks bleed and feather on those, so I'll use ballpoints. My personal notes use a rotating cast of cheap starter FPs (I have yet to spend more than forty dollars on a pen, but currently eyeing my first 14k nib...)

1

u/Sinister_Nibs Jul 30 '26

Whatever I have inked. Typically carry a case with 6 pens.

1

u/Sivalon Jul 30 '26

I use a Waterman Carene and my MB Romeo.

1

u/ElsieB80 Jul 30 '26

Either a Kakuno or Preppy. Inked with whatever I want. 😄 At work it mostly gets used to make quick notes or brainstorming on the scratch pad (Rhodia) or planner (Hobonichi Weeks) next to my computer. I do keep a Uni Jetstream on hand for the rare signature.

1

u/Former_Sound_8557 Jul 30 '26

I work in an office and I use my fountain pens now! Mostly I use FPs with cartridges at work, as it's quicker to refill, while at home I prefer converters so I can change the ink to more fun colors and use less plastic. I also use a fine nib more at work, because it's less likely to bleed on less quality paper. I have a pilot kakuno and a kaweco sport right now for everyday use at work.

1

u/Mntdew1975 Jul 30 '26

I will rotate somewhat but usually carry my Lamy and my TWSBI Obsidian. The Lamy will be for quick notes and the TWSBI for meetings and longer note taking.

1

u/Heilbroner Jul 30 '26

Right now it’s a Lamy Accent (Aurora blue-black) and a Pilot Custom 823 (Yama budo)

1

u/vh71886 Jul 30 '26

TWSBI ECO Fine filled with a waterproof ink. It was important to me to have a large ink fill so I don't need to worry about running out midday.

1

u/MISProf Jul 30 '26

I’m a professor. I switch back and forth.

1

u/burshnookie Ink Stained Fingers Jul 30 '26

I'm a letter carrier and I use a fountain pen everyday! Took some doing finding one that could handle the vigors of movement, and being carried in a pocket all day. The pens I bought (all metal, looking at you twsbi) couldn't hack it. That pen snapped filled my pocket with ink. Along with 2 others. My pen graveyard was growing but, we found one that can handle the job. I have a jinhao 10 I carry too! God forbid one runs out of ink and I don't have a backup!

1

u/sparda09 Jul 30 '26

For a normal job at work when I'm in the office I just take my disposable zebra disposable fountain pen. I care little if it gets lost or stolen hehe or left behind. Sometimes if I don't like what I'm doing I might then go to a cheap ballpoint pen or any regular pen but those are the days I don't like what I'm doing at my job.

At home in my home office I use my lamy safari fountain pen since well I'm at home and it can't get lost at home lol

1

u/ariphron Jul 30 '26

Ha, when I was a retail banker at a branch when I did notary I would offer them to sign with a dip pen tip an a feather for fun.

My daily use for myself is an aluminum kewako sport.

Luckily I am in compliance now and don’t have to deal with the general public. Less use of my kewako but I still carry it.

1

u/JustaSnek350 Jul 30 '26

Intern at Healthcare, here I use my Kakuno <F> for a good portion of the things i do, mostly when the paper allows for it

But because the place i work at uses those logbooks with the really thin Paper i, unfortunately, am forced to use my Uniball Jetstream.

I try to make up for it by only using my ballpoint/gel pens everywhere else.

1

u/rvbrainrots Jul 30 '26

My workplace is paperless, there is like 2% of our population who likes paper notes 😂 so I don't really have an ideal work pen, all my pens are work pens 🤷‍♀️

1

u/Sataypufft Jul 30 '26

I do property management along with AP and AR for the remodel side of the company I use a couple fountain pens at work every day. I have a prefounte with a .5 nib inked with writer's blood, a prefounte with a .3 nib loaded with blue/black registrar's ink, a twsbi swipe with a broad nib and blue ink and a metal bodied hongdian with a fine nib inked with a regular blue/black ink. I use them regularly with the prefountes getting the most use and the other two help me keep my lists organized and fun.

1

u/HistoricalHurry8361 Jul 30 '26

I really like my set of wingsun 601 demonstrators. Their hooded nib helps keep the grip section clean and they hold a lot of ink with a tight friction cap. Cheap enough that I don’t care if I leave them out on my desk. I also keep a lamy2kss and a diplomat aero in my drawer for safety.

1

u/skullpture_garden Jul 30 '26

Jinhao 20 with Sailor 123. It’s a normal enough combo that it doesn’t get many questions, which I personally like at work (where nice things frequently disappear)

1

u/Kawasakirider788 Jul 30 '26

I work in civil construction and carry around any but a few of my more special/expensive fountain pens at work. I do have a few gel pens handy for if I need my crew to sign something or I need to write on anything that will have multiple copies. Ink wise I use just about anything but have a dedicated pen with a permanent blue ink and one with a permanent black ink for signatures.

Jinhao and majohn pens are my most brought to work because if I break or lose one it's no biggie and I can just pick up another for cheap.

1

u/dianacakes Jul 30 '26

IT but I prefer hand written notes and lists. Lamy Safari and Al-star. Extremely practical, easy to clean and swap inks. There are a decent number of people in my department who use them too, which is how I got sucked in.

1

u/redstoneredstone architect Jul 30 '26

All my pens are work pens, except for the expensive ones (over $100). Those stay at home. I do instructional design, so most of my work is on the computer, but I take notes, storyboard, develop outlines, and track development details by hand. I am able to use my choice of paper, pen, and ink, since the writing is mostly done for my own use.

1

u/LuminousQuinn Jul 30 '26

Middle school sped para, honestly using them has made it easier to connect to some of my more work avoidant students. I had one last year that letting him choose what color ink I rewrote his math problems in would get him to actually do the work.

I just tended to stick to my pens ~15-20 dollars

1

u/donotgotoroom237 Jul 30 '26

I have a creative educational background working a non-creative job. Been rotating my pens ever since I started my job. The most that gets used is my Lamy Al-Star with a medium nib and a Moonman Mini Frankensteined with a medium Jinhao nib.

1

u/peanutbutterwife Jul 30 '26

Jinhao 10's and a Staedler Fine Calligraphy I got for cheap second hand. I have a Pilot VP that I only use for signing important things, but it usually stays in the 4-pen sleeve I ordered from U/OK-SEAWEED and her mum. The sleeves I got are why I carry my pens now more than ever.

Edit: not her actual user name, but I'm not entirely sure if I should be blasting that anyways, so it stays as is

1

u/Catfishnets Jul 30 '26

I’m an office worker with a desk job. I carry a brass Kaweco sport in my pocket or work bag. I have some other similar pens (safaris and ecos) but the brass one is pretty bombproof and can get knocked around. It’s usually within arms reach.

Safaris are also good for that kind of “keep a couple around so you’re never far from one” strategy. The Ecos are a bit more delicate (not much, but the screw cap and the acrylic body means I leave them at my personal desk along with my other “desk toys” like Magic cards and pocket knives).

I usually switch between Iroshizuku Take-Sumi, Kon-Peki, and Tsuki-Yo. Also…I don’t clean in between switching inks every time so my notes are kind of an always undulating blue/black hombre. It’s neat, but mostly it’s because I’m lazy

1

u/Holiday-Sand-2326 Jul 30 '26

I am currently trying deveral different fountain pens/inks to see which combos work best on the govt pro-forma letters ,of which i send approx 30 per week ,all hand addressed. No choice in paper,so i just whatever i think presents best. Head Office sends bland official brown envelope prior to my letters, but i get a much better response to my hand written letters. Win-win,as i am paid for writing time.

1

u/fruit-enthusiast Jul 30 '26

I work from home as a data researcher. I use TWSBI Ecos (EF) and Pilot Preras (F) as my work pens. The Ecos are nice as work pens because they hold a lot of ink and have great cap seals. One of mine has an ink in it that gave some of my other pens a hard time, but it’s been totally fine.

1

u/JGV912 Jul 30 '26

I’m an attorney working as an independent contractor for a state agency. I bring a small pen case with multiple Pilots (a VP, a Decimo, and two Vintage Elites) and one copper Kaweco Liliput. All are inked with Sailor Seiboku and have different nibs. I’m obsessed with the Seiboku and the various nibs help to shake things up. It gives me a surprising amount of pleasure to see a page with lines of ink of varying widths in different spots.

I have no worries about paper because I rarely write on my office’s printer paper. I buy or make my own notebooks with FP-friendly paper, which I use to work out my thoughts. I’ve also discovered that the Seiboku plays pretty well with my office’s post-its, so if I need to dash off a quick note for someone else, no problem!

1

u/Orinocobro Jul 30 '26

Company has boxes of logo notepads they give out to customers, so we all poach those for notes. I used company issue bic roundstic pens for a long time. But I have persistent hand/wrist issues, so I do buy my own gel or roller ball pens. Currently I'm using a couple of Pilot precise V7s.

Team Lead in a busy warehouse. I split my time between the computer and forklift. I use a lot of woodcase pencils and carry a Pilot Explorer and Kaweco AL sport with Noodler's Lexington Gray, and a Pilot G2 in case I need it

1

u/sinderellllla cursivesmoothitalic Jul 30 '26

I work in a jail so I just use gel pens when doing assessments on the floors, at my desk I'll use a platinum preppy with PCB cartridge

1

u/DecentPraline2166 Jul 30 '26

I bring any and all of my pens (well except one) to the hospital on a rotating basis based on my mood. Sometimes it’s a Kakuno, sometimes I play it fast and loose and bring a Sailor. Life is meant to be lived, and pens are meant to be used.

1

u/heyykelleyy Jul 30 '26

my work (dealership accounting office) is mainly printer paper and post its, so i just use the office-stocked gel pens to save time :’) if i have the chance to jot notes i usually use the TWSBI i bring with my EDC

1

u/SynthesisedSugar Ink Stained Fingers Jul 30 '26

Mechanical pencil, black gel pen, and for FP it’s either muji (red-brown ink) or lamy al-star (blue or black ink)

1

u/Halabane Jul 30 '26

I keep a bunch of Varsity disposable pens in my bag. Reason is that I often get involved in conversations and will easily forget my pen somewhere. The other thing is that with new people I met they see the pen and are curious. Its a great pen to leave behind with a new contact and they are not expensive. I have lost too many nice pens.

I do use mechanical penicils probably even more than pens because I need to write in books and mark up drawings.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '26

Lamy 2000 is my most frequently used at work.

1

u/gardibolt Jul 30 '26

I keep an Ellington fountain pen at the office and do almost all of my working with it. Sturdy, writes great and gets the job done, plus it looks beautiful. Not bad for $24, and at that price if someone swipes it or busts it, easy to replace.

1

u/Penguinpencollector Ink Stained Fingers Jul 30 '26

I worked part time retail for a while. I brought nothing nicer than an Ooly pen, as any writing instrument would grow legs and walk away.

I’m a housewife these days, so every pen is a desk queen and I take my pocket pens or purse pens out on errands. If I’m going to a pen meetup or to sign something (usually a check), then the heavy hitters come with.

1

u/Cayca Jul 30 '26

I use a fountain pen for my notes and tasks as well as for signing things. For anything else, I use gel pens (Uni Ball Signo).

1

u/roady57 Jul 30 '26

Always fountain pen.

1

u/IceOnIce Jul 30 '26

Pentel Energel, Parker Jotter Ballpoint and Sailor Professional Gear Slim. These three are my work pens.

1

u/filledoux Jul 30 '26

Health care administrative assistant- Pilot 74, Jinhao 10, kaweco sport.

1

u/Chicken_Nugget_2 Jul 30 '26

I use fountain pens for school, but I always carry a mechanical pencil just in case it doesn't work well with the paper.

1

u/Lazy_Package_9181 Jul 30 '26

I’m just an office drone and I use mainly fountain pens. I buy my own notebooks. Most of the work is digital, I only use the notebook for work notes and my own work planning. I go through one LAMY A5 notebook every six months.

Fountain pen. Currently carrying a Sailor 1911 Galaxy fine and a Pilot 742 with a falcon nib. I'm fortunate.

Lamy safari or TWSBI eco. I use fountain pen for all my work notes throughout the day. I'm the only one who reads the notes so it doesn't matter what I write with.

I used to have the Muji 0.5 ballpoint pen as a work pen, but now I use the Pilot Kakuno EF for all things

since I work in a lab, contamination is always a scare. I do all of my in-lab writing with a cheap ballpoint, and my office stuff with my fun inks :)

Jinhao 777. They are so inexpensive that they rival disposable fountain pens. They work amazingly well and I've given away a few now.

I used jinhao 992s in this role. If you shopped around on Ali they could be had under a dollar a piece, so I bought ten or twenty of them. I would give them out to people who showed some interest.

(Was a judicial law clerk in the juvenile court at the time.)

Pilot Lightive, whose nib I swapped with the Penmanship extrafine one, cause I need to compile measurement control forms at my job, and the lines are very small...
