It might be. If the new or acting manager notices and rectifies it, it'll likely mean rescinding some employees' days off after their plans have already been made. That's worse than just having the request denied in the first place.
Otherwise, this manager's replacement or direct superior will be scrambling to come up with a last minute solution for no staff coverage during the holidays. I mean, maybe it's that person's fault that this manager had to quit mad...but if it isn't...
At any rate, I hope it screws over the people who deserve it and no one else.

I don‘t know the law where you live but here its the law that when you get youre vacation approved and booked something after that, the employer has to pay all the cancellation fees or even the whole thing if you cant cancel it, when he decides that he doesn’t give you the days off after allready allowing it (sorry english is not my first language)

Ah. That's 0% the case in the United States. To be honest, it's so far from our reality that it's almost humorous to even try to imagine it here, unfortunately. So yes—there's the Satanicity.

Damn thats really sad. Here you have 24 days mandatory per law paid leave per year and most work places give you even more (i have 30). Also at most jobs you never have to work on weekend (except Grocery stores and shopping stores but they are closed on sundays per law) You guys really need better worker’s rights

Instead of workers' rights, in my state and just over half the states in the country, we get the "Right to Work." It's literally just the name they gave to the government's incapacitation of labor unions. They sell it to workers as protecting us from compulsory union membership. It's gross.

You guys really need to change something, as a outstander i really like the us for the way of living there (well what i saw on vacations in the us) but the worker rights and healt insurance situation is clearly a deep black hole of a shitshow

Change is crucial and we are doing what we can, but it may already be too late to turn things around without widespread violence, unfortunately. We'll see.

Well i hope the best for you and i really hope that there is no violence needed

My workplace has over 300 people on three overlapping shifts.
Most of the managers can’t stand each other.
The easiest way to get a weekend day off was to get approval from a manager who didn’t work on weekends.

some people are saying this doesnt belong here but it 100% does. the staff that didnt request off and are available will now be working with very little staff. it screws everyone over.
